it's the little things that matter...
...when your roommate is an inconsiderate rash

The roommate I was thrown with into the dorms my first year was a rash. That's the only word to describe her without delving into the more _creative_ words available to me. She was a constant irritation, and I'm glad I never have to speak to her again.

Since I moved out of my mom's house immediately after graduation, I've been using my cell phone as my home phone. When I moved into the dorm, I gave my roommate full reign over the line in the room--I didn't even know the number. She also had two--not one, but two!--cell phones that she doesn't even have to pay for, much less care about.

About 3/4 of the way through the year, I was on the edge and about to do something drastic to get some sleep. I was lucky enough to get the only room on the floor the was next to the main heating vent, and it hummed and buzzed all day and all night. I'd had custodial people up to fix it, but there was nothing they could do. Eventually, I got used to that, then... my roommate's cell phones started buzzing. Set started keeping them on all night long, and every time she'd get a text message (which was a lot) her phone would buzz four times, wait a minute, buzz four times more, and this would go on and on until she checked her messages. I had asked her repeatedly to either keep her messages set on "silent" at night or turn them off completely, but she didn't care.

One night, I was so tired, and I had a big paper due the next day, and her phone started buzzing at about 2 am. I lied there and got angrier and angrier until I had an idea. I turned on my cell and called the room phone (I didn't know the number, but I kept it in my phonebook). I never pick it up, even if she's not there, because I don't give out that number. After the first screeching ring, she got out of her bed, stumbled over to the phone, and just as she got there, I hung up. She glared at the phone for a moment, then crawled back into bed, and checked the messages on her cellphone, thereby ending that goddamned buzzing noise. It was so beautifully orchestrated that I wanted to laugh. Instead, I contained myself and fell asleep.

She looked so tired the next day, and she was in such a bad mood... that night still makes me smile.

Anyone else find some small way to get back at your antichrist-incarnate-roommate? I love these stories.

That was a good plan, but if I were you I would have kept calling the phone line after she read the messages, just for my own enjoyment.

My roomate last summer used to leave her cloths all over the floor i mean everywhere so one night after triping on something while going to the bathroom i decidid it was time for revenge. (knowing i wouldnt see her for the next few days because we were haveing a weekend party in another doorm, I got up for class the next morning (she didnt have class until the afternoon) i took all her cloths and put them in the shower and turned on the water. after getting them all soaked i i rung them out as to not get puddles all over the floor. then i tossed her cloths all over the floor like nothing had happened and went to class. she never really said anything about it just that she didnt have any cloths to wear and she was late for class... but the room did stay much more clean.
