I don't need an idol I don't see to tell me what my life is about, I beleave the universe is God(Not necessarily Panthiest) and from what you stated Humans have just as much power as God. As far as love, goals, and faith.

Useless... people who make sweeping generalizations about athiests.
ok... lets stop... can we agree to disagree?
No, because you're wrong. Atheism does not imply uselessness, randomness, lack of agape, purposeless, a lack of understanding of the universe, spiritual emptiness, or the lack of forgiveness (or even a need to be forgiven, which your religion, and not objective reality, instills).

unless your living under a rock.. you know about the "big bang theory" tell my... who created that mass of matter in the beginning?
who created god? you got the same problem
one of the basic laws of physics is that matter can't disappear and reappear
you obviously dont know much about physics...ever heard of quantum physics? read a book, its good for you
so the only answer is... a being that can create something from nothing and "That being can surpass the laws of physics.. because he created him"
so ludicrous i wont bother... ,
and what created that spark within you that makes you, you
neurons, that was easy
there is no proven biological system that account for the spirit
right, because it doesnt exist
scientists have search the whole body time and time again... and they never found this " observing spirit" within us
...point?

PEOPLE WHO DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD -it feels pretty bad to be utterly useless in the universe.
What the hell are you talking about? Whos useless?
-To only be created by random scientific events
While the event that caused the big bang singularity to occur may have been random, there are very few, if any, truly "random events".
-to never be truly and totally loved by any one
How dare you say this. Espically because this implies that I cannot totally love anyone. You are an ass.
-to never know your set purpose and goal
Your view of the world: SOME MAGICAL DIETY TELLS YOU WHAT TO DO, WEITHER YOU WANT TO OR NOT Our view: "oh hey, I really enjoy doing x, I think I'll commit my life to it, because it's what I want!"
-never being able to explain anything at and before the beginning of anything
Your right, because we cannot observe outside of this universe. "Goddit" is a much better alternative.
-to have a gaping black hole in the core of you being... always sucking in your feeling of wholeness and purity
Fuck you, you have no idea what my life is like or what I feel, and I can be moral and not believe in a god, you self-righteous prick.
-to know.. no matter what you do.. you can never be forgiven This is your fate if you don't believe in god Not The god ( bible version) but a god.. a supreme being of some kind
Forgiven for what?
------- Well damn!

Yeah, that's why people made up God in the first place. It's quite fun, really, and very intresting. You probably can't enjoy science as much as I can due to your beliefs. You have to dismiss everything as what God does, you can't know how things really happen. I'd hate to lie to myself. I know I'm pretty pessamistic, but I feel better this way. Also... how the HELL are we more useless than people who do believe in God??? Post edited at 8:38 am on Sep. 18, 2006 by person192

I agree with the OP. I don't understand how atheists live with themselves, knowing that no matter what they do, no matter what they say, they won't really make a difference because according to them, everybody dies eventually, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. No matter what you accomplish, it will all be for nothing.

not true at all. Every one of us makes a difference. People accomplish great things. all of the scientists philosphers and inventors who ever lived, lived for something and were meaningful. And even if we dont get remembered in a few hundered years we make a difference through the lives we touched and influenced or even created.
