Have you ever posted something on LiveWire that you truly don't want anyone to know about? I have often not posted a problem or replied to a topic because many of my friends are on LiveWire, and I really love that they use it, but some things are so very personal that I'd prefer that my friends just not know.
That is why there are new "Mark Anonymous" links in topics and replies that you posted before September 20th (the date the anonymous posts feature became available).
Respect Anonymous Posting
This is an important feature that gives people a voice where before they were too hesitant to post. Please show your peers respect and use anonymous posting when you need that extra protection of your privacy.
Using an anonymous reply to make fun of someone or joke around degrades it for everyone and if we catch anyone doing this we will consider it a non-contributing post.
This is a Limited Feature
Everyone has been assigned a limit of replies and topics based upon the number of posts they have made. When you mark a post as anonymous you will receive a private message alerting you of how many more posts you can mark anonymous.
Why is it limited?
I don't want you to mark all of your posts anonymous because it takes away from the community feel that we work so hard to create here on LiveWire. You're going to be allowed to mark about 2% of your posts anonymous, but I ask that you resist marking even that many anonymous unless you truly feel that you must.
Tips
If you are marking a post anonymous in a topic you created: STOP
Instead, mark the topic anonymous and all of your posts in that topic will be marked anonymous. Otherwise people will know you are the original poster due to the orange original poster brackets around your name.
