Contest closed. i've been feeling generous as of late. i like the new perks of being a sustainer and i thought i'd share it with a couple other people on Livewire.
i'm going to donate for 2 lucky people and make them sustainers. on top of that, Jeff (Khadgar) agreed to also donate for 2 people. there's a total of 4 winners. it doesn't matter what status you are. regular member, support leader, ad-free, patron, whatever. who ever wins, no matter what status, they will all get a $12 donation. if you're a sustainer and happen to win, i'll make an IOU if you wish and you can become a sustainer again whenever you wish for free. here's what you have to do to get this donation and some rules and regulations.
- from this day forward, i want you to help other people the best you can. that means no posts will be accepted before this day (9/21/2006).
- the post can be made anywhere in Livewire/Dormwire. eHelp is also acceptable.
- you must provide a link of your helpful post in this topic. you can post as many as you wish, but only one will be judged though. Once you select the post which you would like to have judged, place a link to it in this topic, followed by the message: "i wish for this post to be judged", or it will not be judged.
- the weight of the problem and the effectiveness of the solution will be taken into account. you can provide help with anything really, but there's a difference between a normal post and a helpful/informational/thoughtful post. some things helpful posts are made of:
- full support of the issue
- additional information they could use about the issue
- links to additional information on the issue
- even though it doesn't take a long post to help someone, you should be able to support every asspect of the topic. your knowledge of the situation should show through your post. - also, you cannot be anonymous through any of this. not on the helpful post and not in here. as the title suggests, the contest will last for 2 weeks, so start helping some people! judges: myself, Jeff (Khadgar), Audrey (audrey820), MoonlitEden, JennyColoda. 1st Place: 351 points + $12 donation + 240 donation points
2nd Place: 259 points + $12 donation + 240 donation points
3rd Place: 153 points + $12 donation + 240 donation points
4th Place: $12 donation + 240 donation points winners TBA. latest day is Oct. 15th, but they may be announced sooner.

Hmm, well I might have been interested, but not only do I not really need it right now, but the time I spend helping people alone means that I can't spend any time reflecting on what support I gave, and has stopped me from responding to eHelps as it is anyway. I will pass, but I will be glad to see people getting better.

That's kind of frustrating. Those of us who have been trying since the beginning and never gotten any recognition or needed any thanks will keep doing that anyways. Those who are selfish and greedy and want the points will be giving out advice, not because they are good people but because they get something in return. God I hate shit like this.
