Ok Mac people, I am forever being told by you on these forums that Macs don’t crash. I have been told it so many times that I have just got plain fed up of trying to protest it.

Today iTunes hung on me....not once, not twice, but three times. Hung so I almost ended up with the battery out, but finally the power button kicked in and turned off.

Yesterday iPhoto hung on me.

On I friends machine running OS9 crash was about the only thing it did well.

I have to ask, what is it you pay for, because it certainly isn’t stability, I hope to god it isn’t the aesthetics or the proprietary hardware.

Thinking about it, I even crashed a machine at an Apple training centre on a course they were running.

Basically, I have my own theories, but before I you what they are, I am interested to know why you bought your Mac in the first place? What was the real reason?

As I point to note I have the full intention of going into a apple store on Saturday to see if they can convince me.

I originally got one because I was able to get special software to help me with my dyslexia (I'm a HUGE retard y'see...). Its what I'm used to, its what I like and I'm really not keen on windows.

Craig, I have to tell you, I've only had my iBook crash two or three times so I'm wondering what the crap you're doing it yours? Are you beating it with a stick or something?

To me a OS is an OS, no need to get tattoos, shirts, or stickers about them.

Mac, to me, is just another operating system that on the fly-by.  Some people may fully well enjoy them and swear by them, but most are just doing it to fit in or to look cool.  (i.e. Linux)

My thoughts the same about AOL.

I guess this is more aimed at the more "hard-core" Mac users.

And Ana, I have not done anything strange, it’s a fresh install with iLife, Office 2004 and Photoshop (plus a few other simple apps (all recommended by the apple site (bar the LW widget and the mod, but as you installed that to, that isn't the issue))).

OS9 is incredibly crash-prone, in fact I'll go out on a limb and say it's about as unstable a Windows 98.

I'm sure most people buy for the aesthetics of the machines. I know damn well I would.

My Mini Mac has crashed a fair few times in the time I have had it, I say Windows XP is seeming more stable for me at times.

I will always stay a Windows User, but also always a Mac user probably, I love the style on Mac OS X.

Basically I got a Mac because I wanted to experience what a Mac is like as I have always been a Windows person, always will be.

I also got it so I had a machine I didn't mess around with (installing stuff, formating, all kinds of stuff), so my Mac was the answer for that.

Also my Father was in America, so they are a lot cheaper over there.

EDIT: I wish Floppyfree was here to post on this Article, It was always a laugh to see that person post.

My PPC did crash sometimes but my new iMac Core Duo has never crashed on me. Crashes are not usual on Macs unless you Want them to happen.

And to be fair, OS 9 should not be compared to OS X by any means. 2 Differnt Underlying File Systems

I may be wrong, but I don't think he is comparing OS 9 to OS X, I think he is just stating that contrary to popular belief Macs DO IN FACT Crash.

Macs do crash, yes, but um barely ever.
Would u rather have your mac break down once every 10 years or have a pc that gets a new bug in it every day and is always crashing down.

you decide:D..me?? I'd rather have a mac:D.

I have owned a Mac for just under a week now. In that time my PC hasn't crashed.

You must be doing something or hiding something from us because not many people's Mac's crash in thier Computers lifetime let alone alot in a week. Are you like "wanting" it to crash so you can post about it?
