I met my current boyfriend in person 16 months ago, after talking on the phone and on MSN for several months. I didn't meet him on LiveWire, but through a friend. She had no idea who he was, so I took the necessary precautions and made sure my mum was around when we met. He was of course exactly who he said he was. Now, this may be somewhat reassuring to some people, but my point is that although many people you talk to online may be telling the truth, there is a chance that they aren't - and where there's even a slight chance, you can never be 100% sure. I live in Australia, and as you may have noticed, there aren't too many Australians on LiveWire, let alone any near where I live.
In America, as I have noticed, there are hundreds of LiveWirians that live in the same state, so the chances of meeting someone near you are pretty high. Along with this increase comes and increase in the amount of people who are not who they say they are. Also, I believe that a greater percentage of the adult population in America spend time online than that of Australia.
The Internet gives people the benefit of anonymity, and this can be extremely dangerous to others. Question the person's motives, use your instincts and don't do anything if you have any doubts.
