It can be a problem. Blocking someone from speaking to you does not prevent them from spreading rumors about you to people you know in real life or otherwise destroying your reputation online. Bullying doesn't just involve speaking to a person; it includes speaking about a person as well.

well what does that matter?  You need to the internet to effectively spread rumors?  You dont!  People need to stiffen up.  We know whats true and whats not true.  Most of it is just teen crap.  When tey get out in the real world, those rumors will not mean anything.

This is actually bullshit. More and more employers have begun searching for a potential employee's history on the internet, and rumors, regardless of their veracity, can be extremely damaging in that regard, and that's not even counting the real emotional damage that such bullying can produce.

You speak as one who's never been a victim of bullying. I suggest that you learn a bit more about what bullying can do to a person before telling people to "stiffen up."
