I don't know what I want to go back to college for
Been there, done that. Messed it up.

So the story is... I went to college. But turns out, I don't enjoy doing what I went to college for. And I'm still paying off the tuition.

I have thought about everything I'm interested in, but there are so many negative points I can think of that deter me from getting a college education in them:

Interior Design:
too expensive, not organized/driven enough to create my own business

Game Development:
not sure I could be creative with a deadline, don't want to sit on my ass all the time

Photography:
don't like developing photos (enjoy digital photography), don't feel comfortable with freelance, as it's not fixed income

Veterinary:
the biology is hard for me (I know from my first run at college)

Journalism/English:
again, don't like the idea of being creative with a deadline, nor the idea of being given a topic to be creative on, especially if it's a topic I don't enjoy

Plus, I'm really afraid of the idea of having a second tuition to pay for. Currently, mine is $220/mo, for the next 9 years. I only make $1300/mo, and have lots of other bills to pay. I'm afraid of being stuck in the work I'm doing now (working with special needs persons), and I can't find a way out. I work night/weekends, so I spend half of my life away from my fiance and sleeping on an air mattress. I want a 9-5, M-F career that I can enjoy.

Anyone have any tips or ideas? I know this is a ridiculous attempt at getting someone to fix my problems... Sorry.

Well, to start, if you go back to school, you can consolidate your loans once you graduate, so you won't be paying multiples of what you are paying now.

In addition, you're acting like me, and worrying a little too much about the little things, like sitting on your ass all day as a game designer...if you get in with the right company, that kind of stuff won't be important.

I would say you should just do what you are passionate about, really get into it...don't worry about the rest!

Well, see, I thought I was passionate about Massage Therapy. But I'm not. And, really, I can't think of being passionate about any of the things that I listed above. Nor anything else, really.

You didn't say what your degree is in.  Would anything in marketing, sales, event planning, etc. be of interest?  How about starting a massage business beginning with friends and family.

I feel your pain. It looks like you are a creative person (int design, photography, journalism) but you are worried about motivation and income - legit concerns.

My advice -  take a chance while you can. Do what you really want regardless of what the "responsible" people in your life (and in your head) tell you.

Take a chance before you get married and have a family. Live so you have no regrets. You are already living on a mattress with a schedule that sucks so you don't have a lot to lose and everything to gain. Apply for jobs that seem out of reach - you never know what will happen.

Freelance - do it. The hours are great!

Above all - don't get depressed and realize that a job is just a small part of the bigger picture. You are more than a job and life is to short to not take chances and do something that you like.
