Hey there, First off, whatever it is that you screwed up on, consider it a learning experience. Don't harbor resentful emotions towards it, because dwelling on your fast will encompass depression in your future. The only way to make things better is to start living in today and truly put yesterday's drama behind you. Whatever it is, whatever degree - you will be okay and that is all that matters.
About your mental disorder, you didn't really explain what it is so I don't know exactly what to tell you, but I can explain to you some methods of dealing with stress. Stress leads to anxiety. Anxiety is often the trigger to emotional inbalances; hence your mental disorder. Don't feel crazy that you have been diagnosed with something like this. Everyone struggles with some form of mental incompetence at one point or another in their life. Whether it be anxiety, depression, bi-polar disorder, etc etc. There is always several people who are going through the exact same thing so don't feel alone!
Reducing Stress:
Properly balanced diet. Having a good diet will help you remain healthy. It's been proven that extreme health will give you more energy and also effect your endorphins. Staying happy or at least not unhappy would really help you.
The rubber band method: You may have heard about this method from people who are suffering from an addiction to cutting. This method is not just for relieving cutting urges, though. The snap of the rubberband to your wrist can be therapeutic to high anxiety. This would be extremely beneficial if the disorder you have is bi-polar disorder.
Medication:
I know that when you think of yourself needing to be "medicated" you may feel a little crazy. Please don't feel that way. People get medicated for things every day. There is no difference between going and getting a flu shot, or getting put on anti-anxiety medication. Any illness needs to be treated with medical care. Mental disorders are no difference. besides, if you don't like the medicine you can always get off of it. I feel a trial period would be beneficial to you. Counseling.
Counseling would be positive for you for several reasons. You could talk through your problems from the past that seem to be holding you back. Having a trained professional speak with you would probably really benefit your emotional health. (Even if you didn't have a mental disorder.) Your counselor can also help you deal with the fact that you have a disorder. He or she can encourage you to talk to people about what is wrong, as well as stay medicated. They can really be the encouragement that you need.
Distraction:
Do you have any hobbys? A fun distration would be helpful for you. Something that you enjoy would be a good stress reliever for you. It's very important that you get "down time" to have fun and submerge yourself in things that make you happy. This is probably one of the most important things I can help you.
I'm sure that there is a lot more information you could get on your disorder. I strongly advise you to do research on it. Perhaps try to find a support forum for peopel who are going through the same thing? Stay strong and don't let the world keep you down!
