Now on earth day the main theme for LW should be green or trees or something like that. Everyones backgrounds goes green automatically. lol. That'd be sweet.

That's great! Perhaps LW should select one or two initiatives such as GreenTags and allow members to donate to LW and specify a portion of their donation to said initiatives on the same page or when they mail it in.

I'm sorry (not really), but 60 dollars is NOTHING compared to what the LW members 'donate' to the site itself. Are you expecting a pat on the back for this measly little gift? How about donating 60 dollars per week? Or even per month? I donated 30 dollars every two weeks (every paycheck) to various foundations and charities. 60 dollars, ONCE, is a paltry amount, and should have been given in secret, instead of acting as a reason to prance around and call oneself 'green'. This is just stupid.
You seriously need to calm down and get off your high horse. Yay that you donate to charity and shit, but seriously? Every little bit counts, and sometimes raising awareness is more important than the money itself. Stop acting so high and mighty because you have the money to donate to charities biweekly or whatever. Prancing around? Step back and take a look at yourself. Fact is, LiveWire is on an extremely tight budget, so it's fantastic that David is doing his part to help the environment, no matter how small.

I wasn't the one on the high horse, it was whoever decided to announce that LW donated 60 dollars who wanted to present themself (or it) as someone (/something) that truly cared. The purpose of my post was NOT to say that I donated (look up 'high horse' if you are confused right now), it was to say that 60 DOLLARS IS NOTHING WHEN YOU GET DONATIONS EVERY DAY. Pay friggin' attention. Stop assuming you know the reasons for my actions, because everything that you asserted, in fact, is wrong. You can raise awareness by -posting a link-. That is all you need. You don't need to say that you yourself have given ANYTHING, if what you are shooting for is the acknowledgment of the movement itself. You don't even know what you are talking about, I am sad to say.

Merlin, Hey fuckface, before you start bitching about how many donations there are compared to how much we donated, take a fucking look at how much livewire ACTUALLY has in excess. After servers, bandwidth, upgrades, etc. there is VERY little left over. Davjs, in the past, has put in his OWN money just to keep LiveWire afloat. As for the 'keeping it secret' thing, that's just stupid. Personally, I do use green tags, and my entire live is carbon nuetral. I'm actually kind of a large environment activist, I'm one of only 7 youth going to large Science conference focusing on the environment in the yukon, I've met Al Gore because of my work, list goes on. And one thing I've learnt is that this stuff spreads through word of mouth - think of how many people have probably read this topic. Now, hopefully, a handful will think 'Hey, what a great idea.' and maybe do the same, or if not, get them thinking about it. Every person counts. If people hadn't mentioned to me that they use green tags to offset their emissions, I would of never known about it. So before you bitch about how much a NON PROFIT organization has donated to something, take a little time to look up LiveWire's actual profits. THERE ARE HARDLY ANY, and most of what we do have goes back into the website. There isn't much in the old LiveWire Piggybank. Get a goddamn clue.

- Call me names, because that's a reasonable response, of course. But don't even take a chance to actually think about what I've said. - 'Word of mouth' means saying 'HEY DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THIS CHARITY?', not 'HEY I DONATED TO THIS CHARITY.' - You would have known about green tags, if someone would have merely mentioned them to you, regardless of stating whether or not they had used them. And you know this, so don't act as if you don't, claiming that one has to say they bought something in order to inform others of that thing's existence. - You have no idea how much LW has to spare, and don't pretend like you do. - Also, don't say 'we,' because you don't have a say at all in what LW does.
