this is such a struggle for me. I find so much satisfaction in food, and in the comfort that it brings me. One thing I have done that has really helped me is to be vocal about it all. I told my roommate about it, and so whenever she sees me eating late at night, or at off peak hours, or..a lot of food etc..she will just say..hey, are you really hungry? It has helped me to be aware of my food problems, and having someone there to catch it has helped alot
also..find yourself something engaging, and ever time you think about food, do it instead until the desire stops.
