Note: Chances are you won't agree with everything I say. Please don't personally attack any of my opinions, and so on. If you disagree with something, that is fine. I encourage you to post your own opinion if you would like. However, I am not making this thread a debate thread. So be fore-warned. I wasn't quite sure where to post this, so I thought I would just post it here. My reason being, because this topic will contain sub-topics that should be in pretty much all of the forums.
I've had a lot of people ask me where I stand on certain issues, so I have decided to just make everything about my opinions known. I have nothing to hide, and I don't mind criticism, so I would rather just have this one topic to refer people too.
Edit: I didn't post this so that you would see it as a topic and read straight through. If you did, cool! More power to you. You now know a lot about me. However, If you didn't have the will power, that's fine. This was just so when someone asks me where I stand on an issue, I can refer them and won't have to continuously re-type.
Is there something that you would like for me to add here? Just let me know!
Let the fun begin..
Where does Kendall Stand on the topic of:
Religion:
My personal religion is Christianity. However, I have a serious problem with the hypocrasy that is involved in my own religion. I am a part of this religion because I like what is actually behind it. I agree with what the context of the bible says. If more of the christians payed attention to the text of their own bible, they would realize they are in the wrong with all of their judgement. I don't like when people in my own religion can't accept people for what they truly are, and what they believe in. So I suppose you could say that I am against the zealots.
I'm also well read on all of the other religions and contriversies between the religions. I figured before I stuck to one, I should at least know the facts behind all of the other religions. I have to say this, though: I don't debate religion. So any form of debate of this with me would be null. Don't even try. For me to debate my religion would go against what I stand for, and that is that everyone is entitled to choice of their own religion and / or morals.
Edit: As far as church, I don't think that you have to attend church to be a christian. People can have time with God in the privacy of their own home and it will be just fine.
Homosexuality:
Homosexuality is a very heavy topic. I figured I should make it follow religion because part of it includes religion. I honestly hate how my particular religion collides with my belief on homosexuality. I have nothing against gay people and what they do. My religion, however, tells me how wrong it is. I guess you could say that this is an example of how I dislike the judgement that comes with my religion. Anyway, as for if I am against homosexuality: No. I don't mind it at all. One of my closest guy friends is gay, and I love him dearly. I've always known he would be gay. It's just him. I'm okay with that, too.
Abortion:
I'm not going to lie and tell you that I have never been against abortion because I have. I was raised this way, and always thought that abortion was immoral and completely wrong. However, one day I grew up and realized that you can't say it's the wrong thing until you are really in the situation and your future is at stake. Have I ever been faced with the choice? No. Not yet, anyhow. Honestly, I don't know what I would do. I would like to think that I would keep my baby, but I can't be one hundred percent sure until I myself am confronted with that situation. Alongside the horrible future, sits shame. Honestly, pride is a big thing to a lot of people, as sad as it is.
Sexual Permiscuity:
I would like to clarify that I see a difference between sexual permiscuity, and sex. When I think of one being permiscuous I think of a person with many sexual partners. I don't agree with this. Now, that doesn't mean that I'm not going to be friends with anyone like this, because honestly I am. However, even with my own friends; when they are upset because someone calls them a "slut" I don't try to tell them that they shouldn't feel that way, because honestly it is their choice to have many sexual partners. If you are okay with doing that, you should be expecting people to belittle you. That doesn't mean that I don't support them, because I do.
As far as sex goes, I don't see anything wrong with having sex with the person you love. If you are with one person and stay true to that person, more power to you.
Sex before marraige:
I decided to make this a different sub-topic because I wanted to make a completely different point here. I know I advocated sex before marriage previously, but I am rooting for those people who want to remain sexually pure until they have a wedding band around their finger. Too you guys, if anyone ever puts you down for your choice, just remind them that you can be like them at any time you would like. However, they can never again be like you.
Politics
I don't even know where to start with this one. Honestly, I'm glad that I am not old enough to vote yet because I find myself very indecisive. I see points with both democrats and republicans. I find myself wanting to be on one side, yet pulled to both in certain areas. Regarding the war in Iraq, I can see why people would want to pull out, yet I can also see reasons why we should not. That's kind of where I stand on every part of politics. I'm glad I have a year and a half more before I hold this responsibility, because I'm not ready for it.
Who would I vote for? At this point in time; McCain.
Alcohol consumption:
I don't think that it is a terrible thing to drink. However, I believe that anyone who is consuming alcohol should be well aware of what it can do to your body. Also, I believe that everyone should know their limit. Alcohol poisoning is a very serious thing. I think people should know their family history. If you have had a lot of alcoholics in your family, I don't think it would be a very wise idea to become a heavy drinker, because it is honestly in your blood.
Drugs:
My sister was/is heavy into drugs. Any drug you can imagine, she has done it, or is addicted to it. People say that certain drugs don't do things to you, but I know that's not true. I have seen it. Unless you walk around holding up a mirror and an old picture of yourself all of the time, you will never see it yourself. These things get out of control very quickly. That's why as far as drugs go, I'm completely set on no.
But, I do agree with the distribution of mirijuana for medicinal purposes.
Should Mirijuana be legalized?
As I said, I dislike drugs. But that doesn't change the fact that if cigarrettes are legalized, Mj should be. In retrospect, cigarettes should be illegal if mj is.
Vegans:
My best friend has been a vegan for three years, and honestly I don't understand it. I have tried countless times to get her to explain things to me, but she refuses. So I'm left in a blank state regarding this. I understand why people don't eat meat, because sometimes the thought of a poor animal being slaughtered makes me want to switch to veggies. However, I don't understand the concept of not drinking milk / eating eggs. The eggs aren't fertilized anyway, it's not the consumption of a fetus that would otherwise live. Milking cows relieves them of pain they feel from lactation. Ever lactated? It can be quite painful. If you're against the way a certain company treats animals, you can google home bred businesses around you. I've researched it myself it does exist. Pretty much everywhere.
Teenage Relationships:
I myself am in a successful teenage relationship, and I know that it's not a naive thing because I have taken things slow and protected my heart. Teen relationships are possible to succeed, but you can't jump right in to fast. Taking the slow road is the best way for teenagers to maintain a healthy, true relationship.
Global Warming:
I don't know if global warming exists. I've heard "evidence" that suggest it does. I've also heard "evidence" that suggest it doesn't. So honestly, it would be a gamble to really be pulled in either direction. However, I believe that the way we treat our environment is important. Maybe there isn't global warming, but that doesn't mean that we should make our air toxic. The earth was here way before we were, and our harsh treatment to it is not justified. Even if we aren't going to burn alive due to a hole in the atmosphere, or melt our polar ice caps with radiation, I would still love to live in a clean world where the air you breath is fresh.
President Bush:
One thing I personally cannot stand is how people seem to love conforming to the, "I hate Bush" trend. Someone in class the other day said, "Bush is such a faggot, I hate him." I looked at him and just simply asked, "Why do you dislike him?" and he couldn't even find an answer. It's basic high school logic. If it is popular to dislike someone, chances are a lot of people will. I personally like George Bush. Yes, he has done some not quite so intelligent things, but he has also done some good ones. have we had anymore terrorist attacks since he took control? No.
The Death Penalty:
I live in Texas. We probably kill more people on death row then the whole united states combined. You think i would be biased because I live here, however, just because I live in the lonestar state doesn't mean that I condone the slaughter of people. I don't understand why the government would say, "You're a terrible person for killing another human being, so I'm going to kill you." It seems a little more than hypocritical to me.
Why not make them rot in jail, thinking of the heinous crimes they committed, or the innocent people they killed. I don't know, death just seems like an easy way out to me. I realize this is a problem seeing as prisoners are expensive, so I think a job system would be good.
What do you mean 'job system'? I mean make the prisoners work to get money and to pay for their stuff. This way money would be in a circular motion. Tax payers money goes to the prison, the prison's money is distributed between the working prisoners, that money goes back to the government, then back to the tax payers. It would work. If the prisoners don't want to work, then they are killing themselves. Not the government's problem.
Teaching Religion in Schools:
I don't see anything wrong with teaching religion in schools, unless it is enforced. Although, I do have a problem with the teaching of evolution being mandatory, while the mention of religion can get a teacher fired. I think they should make an elective class for this particular topic. If students want to know more about religions and the contexts of their different bibles, and how they differ, they can sign up for the class. If they don't want to hear about religion, simple, they can ignore it and never have to step foot into the classroom.
The banning of John Fenton.
The first banning may have been deserved considering his fake death broke my little heart. However, the new improved, "Fenton." should forever stay.
note: My feelings on this last event should change in the event of another fake death.
I'll add more to this later.
:D
