They give your school money, tuition is cheaper. I use FAFSA as well. And yes, the earlier you do it, the more money you get.

i did mine very early, jan. i think.
do they award you money for the 2008-2009 school year for fall and spring.. or just fall?

fall and spring, and summer if you qualify. It really depends on when your school's deadline is. if it's march 1, like mine, you just have to have the FAFSA completed and sent to the school by then, ad it took less than a week for them to do that for me. You have enough time.
