This may seem a strange post to some, however I am re-entering college after having completed a 30-year career ... I'm specifically going to be taking classes in broadcast journalism and it may or may not be for a degree .. the counselor said that I can always decide between having career certificate or a degree later on, and I don't have to decide immediately .. I'm wondering about a couple of things .. #1 -- how often do you see other students in college who are in their late 50's / early 60's ???? #2 -- I would simply prefer to enjoy the idea of going back to college as it is sort of like re-living the experience of 40 years ago.. At the same time, my being at the other end of the age scale makes me feel a bit uncomfortable ... Is it like really unusual to see really older students in college ??? What are your thoughts ??

I really don't know because I'm in highschool. My friend Larry is in his 70's or 80's (we never really talked about it), and he once told me a story about how he went out to UBC (university of British Columbia) to get a muffin and tea (they have famous muffins), and when he was sitting down another older gentlemen came out and sat down beside him and asked him what classes he was taking. I don't know if that helps at all. Either way, good for you for going back to school and learning more about something you are passionate about. By the way, we have a really immature bunch of people here, so do not be offended if people are rude to you and such. We don't get many older posters, I've known about a dozen in the four or five years I've been coming here. We do not have an maximum age limit, despite what some people think. Good luck at school! I only had maybe one or two older people in my classes at any time. I did see a handful around campus, and it's not like I would think "omg, what a weirdo!" or something like that. There was enough that everyone was ok with it. Plus, really, most students have enough to worry about than to gossip or care that someone older is in their classes. The only thing that I kind of disliked about having a couple older people in my math classes was that sometimes they would ask "stupid" questions. The types of questions that most of us would remember or know, since we have been taking math classes regularly for years, but it's the type of easy things that they may have forgotten. But it was a bit tedious to have to have the teacher spend time explaining the basic things that I felt like no one else had questions on. It was a little frustrating, but other than that I didn't even give it a second thought really.
------- So when you're happy (Hurray!), or sad (Aw!), Or frightened (Eeek!), or mad (Rats!) An interjection starts a sentence right.

Thank you, 4est, for the reply ... And, thanks to everyone else who has replied so far .. I'm taking classes more for my amusement and hobby-related interests, and I am looking forward to it.. As for age ranges on this forum .. well, since there is a section titled "college" it would seem not expressly limited to teens ... Again, thanx .. Elaine
