FAIL.

Edit: To extend my failure message, not everyone in the United Kingdom are British, which is why you fail.

that's a hard question to answer. there are so many things that i know about the United Kingdom, like geography, history, current events, habits of people, accents, myths, gossip, their opinions of americans, etc.

like i said.

of course the UK has other languages, and the capital cities are (lets see if i can remember them off the top of my head):
London is the capital of England (and of the UK)
Cardiff is Wales,
Edinburgh is Scotland
and Belfast is Northern Ireland.

thats all of them, right?

Certainly not as much as I'd like to.

United Kingdom technically composed of quasi-sovereign (and historically sovereign) territories including England, Scotland (and Wales and Northern Ireland? I'm not sure what the specific "kingdoms" are that are "united" as the UK). Queen is the head of state, the monarch and head of the Church of England (adherents of which are called Anglicans over there and Episcopalians in the US). Ireland separated successfully in fairly recent history, but northern portions of the island are still British, and not part of the Republic of Ireland.

I'm fairly sure the monarchy is male-preferential, but I do know that the queen is presently in charge. What I'd like to know is how residents of specific areas feel about the monarchy. Just an old joke? A worn out tradition? Important only as ceremony and tradition, or actually important to the country in some feasible, political way? How would opinions on this change depending on the age of the one asked? On the background (A Welshman's feelings versus a Scot's, etc.)?

I don't know too much about the history, the whole royalty thing confuses me.  But I guess I know a fair amount about its current history.

Of course. Welsh in Wales, Scots Gaelic and Scots in Scotland, and there're probably at least a few speakers of Gaelige in Northern Ireland too (I was gonna say Jèrriais, but Jersey's not technically a part of the UK, is it).
