When we remove a post, it sends a message to the user and tells them to contact us? I think it should go to a moderator. Well, I guess I can understand, the mods are busy enough. But it gets annoying when people get pissy with me for removing a post, especially when it takes 2 SL votes to get rid of it, so OBVIOUSLY someone else thought it needed to be removed.

If the person was refered to a moderator, that moderator would not know what they were talking about. We chose to delete the post, so we should have to explain if there is question.

You have to expect some back chat, or else don't bother removing posts.

I don't think it should go to a moderator, but I don't think it should show our username, either. When a moderator deletes a post or something, it doesn't say who deleted it -- it just says "Moderator" in the send field. I think it should just say "Support Leader", or something.

It does. For posts and warnings, but not for topics and DoSS, I believe.

If you aren't prepared to talk to members and explain deleting posts, you shouldn't be voting to delete them. Members deserve an explanation.

If they're threatening/abusive, report the message. If you can't remember the post, ask the member to link you to the topic to refresh your memory. And if you discuss it and decide maybe the post should have stayed, PM a mod and explain it. Everyone makes mistakes.

Basically, we have power and with that comes the responsibility of explaining our actions to members. Don't hide posts if you don't want to be bothered with explaining.

To add to Audrey's post: it may be worth reminding them that if they feel their post was wrongly removed, they should file a MER (even if it was hidden by SLs).

You should be able to easily explain why you removed the post.

I've had my replies removed by support leaders, and I asked why, and all I was told was to "File a MER"

In my opinion, thats bullshit.

Blank black- What if I feel they didn't remove it correctly? I can talk it out  with them, right?

Supports leaders should ALWAYS (if questioned) at least try to explain to a member why they removed their post.  I understand that sometimes it doesn't matter, then you must give the MER line, but that should be the last thing you do.

If you're going to pull their post, you should be willing to talk to them about it.  If you guys encounter someone that doesn't, let me know, I'll talk to them about it.

I'm always reluctant to engage in a dialogue, and I'll tell them that if they don't believe it should have been deleted, go and message a moderator. For a start, we can't change it. And secondly, if I believe it should have been moved, and  the poster doesn't then we're at a bit of a stalemate.
