You should speak with a doctor of course. Yes, you should stop taking Xanax. It's a Class D drug. You can always check out http://www.safefetus.com for information on prescription drugs during pregnancy. It has this to say about Xanax during pregnancy:
"The drug is teratogenic in animals at high doses producing skeletal anomalies and by affecting the fetal neurodevelopment it causes cerebellar defects, reduced motivation and increased male aggression in the adult offspring exposed in utero."
"Chronic maternal use of the drug throughout pregnancy can cause neonatal withdrawal."
The majority of the fetal organs form in the first three months of pregnancy and if you've been using hardcore drugs and excessive alcohol there's a very good chance that you have caused serious damage to your baby. No one can probably tell you for sure. An ultrasound can at least tell if there is any physical defects. You may be looking at a baby with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
