There have been requests from support leaders for names with experience/willingness to help with Teen parenting & pregnancy. Please help if you can!

I'm going to try and be as clear as possible on this. I've got a killer headache so it might be a bit hard, but I wanted to make the topic before I forget.

So basically, I occasionally get the user private messaging me for advice. I usually try and help everyone as much as I can, but I know there are some topics (rape, for example) that I just have no experience with, and don't feel comfortable giving and am not in the position to give the member adequete advice.

That's where this topic comes in. I'd like to create a list of what each support leader "speacilizes" in, if you get my gist. What you have experience with, and what you're willing to have members referred to you concering.

Example, since I know I'm not being very clear. Lets say someone PMs you about depression, which you know nothing about. So, instead of posting in a group or something to find a SL you can refer that member to, you just check here, and would you look at that? xoxo1234 is on the list for depression!

Haha, do you get it?

Another idea, members could refer to this list if they need advice and want to private message a specific member. Or this could just be a resource for fellow support leaders. Whatever.

So, please write issues you're willing to have referred to you, if any. I'm going to create a list here, so please also suggest categories! :)

This is a list of what you feel most comfortable giving support for. It doesn't mean that you're totally incapable with all other subjects. This is just a referral list.

I'd rather not categorize myself. I understand the practicality of this idea I'd just prefer not to participate, if that's alright.

Most of the time I just PM people and talk...

I don't really know what things I'm good at, it depends a lot on my mood and whatever effects it...

Sometimes I feel I can help with depression, bullying or self esteem, but when something reminds me that I'm on the same boat as the person, I just feel I can't help and it would be a waste of time for both of us... if not making the situation worse...

:(

dating for people who have no experience and are shy but less insecure; general improving social skills for people who don't think they have any friends; motivation for people who are "depressed" in a non-emotional way; maybe a few others if i think of them.

i can try with other topics than those (but in the same "category") in pm and help people to a decent extent, but i'll probably draw blanks eventually.

Well, I'm willing to have a shot at anything, but I'm best at stress issues, family/friend issues and school/schoolwork problems.

You're all added! :]
When I created this list it was more for the more "difficult" topics to deal with, that really require experience -- such as rape or eating disorders. I'm adding everything though, but anyone with "specialties" such as those are appreciated -- or anyone who can deal with them at all.

Hard to say what exactly I'm best in, but I find I do best when it comes to job / school / career problems / advice, relationship problems, and dealing with death (especially as my mom had died when I was 11 years old, so I have lots of experience in this area).

I'm not so great with depression and cutters.  I never have any idea what to tell them.  I find it difficult when I can't clearly tell somebody to do something to make themselves feel better.  My main strength is in rationalizing things and clearing up confusion, making it clear what one should do.

First aid and health related issues, depression and self injury, dealing with the death of someone from suicide, job/career/education related issues, living with disabilities or people who have disabilities.

That's most of what I do... although I may also help with family/friend problems.
