Trust me, it's a wild animal. Put it outside, it knows what to do.

it'll run right back inside...

Let ti go. Apparently you let it be in your house this long or do away with it. Animals like that-it doesn't seem cruel

Let it go. I'm sure it will survive on its own.

Logic tells me to take it far far away.

If you have intentions to stay with it, you must know 3 essential things about living beings :

They need Food/Water
They need Space
They need Love

If you can't give that to the animal, then just let it go.

Well, number one... it's a wild animal and could actually die since it was raised around humans and such. So the best thing to do is to just release it outside. OR just take it somewhere else like someone mentioned that is far from your house like a field.

And not only will you be helping that mouse out but you'll be helping yourself. You have no idea what kind of diseases or whatever it has. It could simply be a carrier and not show any symptoms.

If you're worried about this one mouse in your house... think about the others that possibly live in or around your house. If he can come into your house, most likely there's more that also knows how to come in as well. Best idea to do is get a cat and it will take care of them for you if you're afraid of them being in your house (yes, it will most likely kill the little critters but it's part of the circle of life).

You need to put it back outside, because it's a wild animal and won't take kindly to being cooped up in a cage. You could let it out in a thick hedge, in a shed, under some logs...anywhere really. It lived outside before, it'll find somewhere to hide.

Dont kill it, or take it to an animal shelter.
Let it go in the wild.  It'll know what to do.
