What I shoulda said was "I don't remember my dreams". I know you have dreams every night, sometimes hundreds, so Is shoulda thoughta that before. I also hear if you got something on the back of your mind you dream of that I think. But I was wondering if there were other ways to remember your dreams better. Cause I usually can't.

well, from what i hear, everyone has dreams, all night long, but they dont remember them. it happens during rem sleep, from what i understand. i kinda proved this too, because i always remember my dreams vividly, and i wake up every morning during my rem sleep because my body's natural sleep schedual is different than my school's schedual.

Dreams are a reflection of ur subconcious--if you had a terrible day and its on ur mind when u go 2 sleep, u will haave a nightmare, and vic versa. Also, sleeping really cold or sick can give nightmares. you have dreams every time you sleep, but u dont always remember them.

There are certain ways u can have 'lucid dreams' whic are dreams where u can control whats happening.

<----studying dreams rite now

If you set your alarm to go off about 3 hours after you go to bed, you'll wake up in the middle of your 'dream' phase of sleep and will most likely be able to remember them.  So then you can write it down and go back to sleep.

Actually it's a lot harder to remember dreams if you've been woken up. Well, according to my psych class anyway. Take a weekend or something and sleep in as long as you want, then try to remember your dreams before you get up or do anything else. I had an assignment like that once and I thought it sounded stupid. I rarely remember my dreams, but the whole week I did it I remembered at least parts.

I'm not saying wait until you wake up and try to remember.  I'm saying set an alarm to make you wake up while you're in your deep sleep.  You'll be able to remember them then.

And I'm saying that making yourself wake up can make it harder to remember.

Actually, it's been scientifically proven that it's easier to remember.

I'm fairly certain you're wrong. I was just studying that in psych, and I'm going to trust my psych class over you.

If you set your alarm to go off about 3 hours after you go to bed, you'll wake up in the middle of your 'dream' phase of sleep and will most likely be able to remember them. So then you can write it down and go back to sleep.

I tried doing that this morning. I got into bed at around 12:05 AM, but usually it takes me twenty to thirty minutes to fall asleep so I set my alarm for 5:05 AM, four and a half hours after I guessed I'd fall asleep. (I know you said three hours, but someone else said 4.5 hours was when you had your longest dream sequences.)

When I woke up, I remembered some of my dream but after looking at my clock (I had woken up two-three minutes before my alarm went off) and turning off the alarm, the memories started to shatter and break apart, as if they were flying away. I feel now as if my dream is in the back of my mind, but I can't remember it. However, I do know that it was REALLY weird.

But this was just my first time trying this, so maybe that's why I messed up. I'm going to try again tonight, since I have to get to bed earlier anyways.
