So hey livewire. I really need your help on this one. I've always consulted livewire when I was stuck in a situation where I had to think things through completely and rationally, and now is another one of those times where I really need your help. I've been apart of my company for 3 years. I've been double promoted and my most recent third promotion requires great dedication and responsibility. It's also in a new location which is at least 30 minutes away from my home on a good day with no traffic. I'm a full time sophomore at a university, and I've got just about a month left of class. Then another week for exams. I started this job around march 10th and ever since I've had little to no time to work on anything school related. I sense that my grades might plummet. It definitely will have an impact on my grades if I don't stop now. The thing is I need income to pay my bills. I wish I never accepted this new position in the first place. My dad was right, and I was fine with what I was doing before. Not to mention the fact that I'm one hundred percent stressed out. If I were to quit I have no idea when I might be able to snag another job. It was hard enough to get this one. I have no idea if my old location would accept me back, and offer me a demote. What do I do livewire? Should I stop now before anymore damage is done to my grades? Or do I continue to drive the long distance every other day for 9 dollars an hour at 30-40 hours a week?

try to get the old job back. explain your situation to them and if they don't understand then look for a new job before you leave that one.

Personally, if it's only 9 dollars an hour, I would say you can easily find another job that will pay that much or more. If it's affecting your grades, that can likewise affect your chances of getting better jobs in the future, right? I mean... your grades can HELP you get that better job or position... don't you think? This being said, can you possibly ask a supervisor to lessen your hours for the next few weeks? Is that a possibility? That may give you the timet hat you need for studying and the like, you know? As well... have you ever considered taking a train or bus to work? It may take a bit longer, but this would give you time to study while travelling. I've had a few friends that had an hour commute to school and the like... that time could be used towards studying :), whereas a car takes away that option. So personally, I think it's up to you. See if you can either reduce your hours, or possibly commute to work. Or maybe take time off (That would be hard to do without notice). If not, go for the schooling... but start looking for other jobs immediately as well, especially when your bills rely on it, you know? Personally, if you could find another job or reduce your hours BEFORE leaving this one, that would be ideal. You don't want to be stuck in a situation where you can't afford your lifestyle.
