I'm 18 and had insomnia or problems sleeping for aslong as i can remember.
Its 6am now n im not even tired!... stupid thing is I'll go to bed in an hour or two n not get up til like 2pm n then miss half the day.. so its kinda 1/2 insomnia n 1/2 being nocturnal lol.
what's more annoying tho is if i stay awake till like 6am n then have to get up for uni at 7:30am.. not fun with only an hour sleep. Seriously not fun!
I've tried everything but sleeping pills n only because they wont prescribe them to me lol.
I've kinda accepted that i just cant sleep unless its for a few hours during the day... but would be fun to be able to sleep normaly n not have huge bags under my eyes n feel like death every morning!
Just wondering if anyone else is like this?

I'm exactly the same way. Like right now, it's 2:30 where I am. But, I'll probably stay up until around five or six because everything is running through my head and I can't keep my eyes shut. But, if I need to, I take Tylenol PM or Melatonin, which works best for me. Because when I take Melatonin I don't wake up as groggy. And, I guess it stimulates your melatonin in your body which makes you sleep.

Are the prescribed stuff? When i went to the doctors (for liek the 50th time) the said the couldnt give me an because im too young and its to eas to get addicted. And i "ma become dependent on them and not be able to sleep without taking them"... which you know fair point... but not when i cant sleep at all without them. Slightly hippocritical reason if you ask me, but im bia because iw ant some damn sleep lol

lmao I'm the exact same way as well... I strongly believe its because of internet addiction because just talking on these forums stimulates the mind so much I don't even feel tired of like going to bed. So I'm learning to deal with it until I find a job or some other reason to go to bed earlier lol

I used to be the exact same way. I was tired all the time and it even started affecting my grades and social life. You said that they wouldn't prescribe sleeping pills for you. My psychiatrist was hesitant to prescribe me sleeping pills as well because they can be habit inducing. He decided to put me on Trazadone, which is not actually an insomnia medication. It causes drowsiness and it really helped me a lot. The good thing is that it's not habit causing, and it is FDA approved for teens. Maybe you should suggest it to a psychiatrist.
Also, there's this supplement called 'melatonin' that they sell at grocery stores and stuff and doctors sometimes tell patients to try that. :]

I have insomnia too. I feel your pain, seriously.

Take a look at my blog (click the link in my signature)... if you're lucky you'll find something useful there.

Nope, you can buy Tylenol PM right there in the drug department. And I'm sure it's the same way with Melatonin, but not positive because my mom gets it from Puritan's Pride, so I just use that..

Yeah. You can get non-prescription sleeping pills. You just have to ask the pharmacist specifically. Ask for diphenhydramine or doxylamine. I don't know the English brand names.
