One cannot say they support the rights of man while denying the fundamental right to protect one's rights.

An individual should have the choice to do as they will which violates the rights of none that they believe will best secure their rights.  Anyone attempting to force behavior on others like this is correctly labeled a tyrant.

We should make it required for people to get physiological evaluations and make them practice with a gun for a certain amount of time before even considering letting them even purchase a gun.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms ... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes ... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
There should be strict regulation of course. And there also needs to be more focus on the use of and development of less-than-lethal weapons and incapacitating chemical agents (Kolokol-1).

we should have the right to carry them...first of all because it is in our rights (see the 2nd amendment), second because i DO believe in being able to protect myself if the need arises,

Gun control for all except police and that sort of thing. If nobody's allowed to have a gun, nobody's gonna have one to shoot, therefore nobody needs one for protection against something that's impossible.

Flawed theory, criminals still get guns because they disregard the law completely. There are more civilians around then police, and police aren't always get there in time it stop a situation from escalating from bad to worse. People that get a CCW and are responsible can not only defend themselves, but others.

You should read the Gun Control Fact Sheet, that'll clear some numbers in your head.

* Concealed carry laws are dropping crime rates across the country. A comprehensive national study determined in 1996 that violent crime fell after states made it legal to carry concealed firearms. The results of the study showed:

* States which passed concealed carry laws reduced their rate of murder by 8.5%, rape by 5%, aggravated assault by 7% and robbery by 3%;29 and

* If those states not having concealed carry laws had adopted such laws in 1992, then approximately 1,570 murders, 4,177 rapes, 60,000 aggravated assaults and over 11,000 robberies would have been avoided yearly.30

Yea, but look at who created that article, its from the website http://www.gunowners.org.  Dont you think that that might be just a tad bit biased.  Do you honestly trust people in the U.S to be carrying concealed weapons, i know i wouldnt trust them.  And yea, criminals would still be illegally getting weapons, but what about the people that legally buy them and commit crimes.  In almost every ghetto you will find 2 things, a liquor store and a gun store.

Areas where concealed carry is allowed seem to have lower crime rates than those without.
you pulled that one out of your ass or you got actual fact to support it?

It may not be the case in all situations but it seems to be the case now. Criminals fear an armed public.
Haha yeah right. Tell that to the Nortenos and the surenos here.

Murder rates dropped 8%
Rape rates drop 5%
Aggravated Assault rates dropped 7%
James Lott;David Mustard: This study involved county crime statistics from ALL 3,054 counties in the US from 1977 to 1992. During this time, 10 states have adopted the right-to-carry laws. Its estimated that if all states adopted the right-to-carry laws, in 1992, the US could have avoided 1,400 murders, 4,200 rapes, 12,000 robberies, 60,000 aggravated assaults - and saved over $5,000,000,000 in victim expenses.

Outdated a bit but Im sure this would be true for a more recent study.

It was conducted by James Lott and David Mustard. As for the rest, this is only one study

What makes you think the criminals would turn in there guns. If law abiding citizens dont have guns that just means the criminals do...
Acctualy if you look at countries where theres gun control the violent crime rate is higher per capita...the violent crime rate in 2001 in the UK was extremly high and that is direct result of several gun law put in place in 96...
Theres nothing wrong with respectable law abiding citizens have concealed handgun permits..And theres absolutley nothing wrong with responsible gun ownership...One of thing our  forefathers fought for

Well i believe that people will use common sense with guns,

Well then you're being naive. When has the general public ever shown common sense about most anything? The Supreme Court of the United States will soon be clarifying the meaning of the 2nd Amendment and the personal possession of weapons. (I'm betting that the decision is not going to be in favor of the NRA position.) Even if I were in favor of concealed carry, I sure would not be in favor of it on college campuses or even among the general public in that same age group.

In one school shooting the number of deaths was 21, in my stance if students were allowed to carry guns there would be 1 death instead of 21.

That's not even remotely true. You think that at Virginia Tech, if 10,000 rowdy college kids were carrying hand guns, there would be less deaths? Absolutely not. Especially considering the situation, that there was a shooting on campus and they hadn't caught the shooter. So there'd be thousands of kids on campus which itchy trigger fingers, scared shitless that someone with a gun is out to kill (and yet they all have guns!). While I do agree that if someone in the class had a hand gun, they may have been able to defend themselves, overall, thousands of alcoholic rowdy college kids with guns is not a good thing.

The only reason the US has the second ammendment is so that white people can legally kill minorities. And that's pretty much all it's used for.
