What is the point of all these overly priced electronics.? Why do we need cell phones when regular house phones do exactly the same thing? Maybe all of this new technology is beneficial but i really don't see how it is, except for a waste of money.

Erm, regular house phones don't do the exact same thing as cell phones.

Regular house phones are tied to a land line, meaning a wired connection to the phone network.

Cell phones use cell towers to allow access wirelessly from anywhere you can get a signal.

The cell phone is far more convenient than the house phone. Not only that, but the house phone is generally one per home. Cell phones are more often carried by individuals, so you don't have that awkward "Erm... Hello? Is <person> there?" every time you call.
