Has anyone seen the movie Zeitgeist? And if so what do you guys think about. And if you haven't seen it you should check it out on google video, it is the number video as of now. It brings up some very interesting points about different topics.

It's interesting, but I know better than to take all those wild claims at face value.  All they do is bash the media for feeding you opinions, and you for accepting them, but at the same time feed you similar opinions, expecting you to accept them blindly.

A little naive and hypocritical I feel?

Step One: Completely strip you of your faith in religion
Step Two: Leave you grasping for straws, desperate for some grounding
Step Three: Insert Hatred for Government in that void.

I was having a religious debate at school, over the the merits of Mormonism considering it's a fairly new religion with quite racial claims. The person I was arguing with was saying "All religions are bizarre-- AND THEY'RE ALL ROOTED IN EGYPTIAN FOLK LORE"
I refused to debate with him because I could tell his sole influence was the Zeitgeist.

I find it rather curious that it has no credits, it has shabby "sources", and way too much spooky music.

What do you consider shabby sources?

I used to read - hell, I used to PROMOTE - that kind of stuff. I once upon a time was enamored of a British conspiracy theorist called David Icke (and believe me, it really, REALLY shames me to admit this) and he said  (if my impressions are right) pretty much a lot of the same stuff in this film (although keep in mind I haven't seen it, and if the Major's correct, don't plan to). Christianity's a pagan sun cult; there's a New World Order coming to take us all over (fuck, I mentioned this in a history class once; I got a reputation for being paranoid after that :D); bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. Plus there was some fuckin' weird stuff to that I'm not even going to mention. Swallowed it all and didn't even collect the payment.

I get really frickin' annoyed whenever I read about stuff like this, like the whole "9/11 Truth Movement" garbage. When are people going to grow minds in addition to their brains?

When are people going to realise that the points Zeitgeist raises are far more believable than they are unbelievable. The news media really is a control device for Governments. Governments really do want more and more power over their people - the US is not the only example of this (just look at the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany). That being said, one could also say such control methods and scare tactics could not be done under a democratic society.. But then one would forget that democracy is not Utopian. It is relatively fair and supports freedom, but it has the ability to control your decisions - to set agendas to make people think about certain things rather than other things. This is where the media comes into play.

Zeitgeist can be considered propaganda but the points it raises are perfectly legitimate and are well sourced. It is merely another look at the Bible, the US government and world politics/democracy. Perhaps it is contradictory, but there is simply too much evidence (anecdotal and correlative) of 9/11 being setup by the US Governement. There's too much common elements between the Bible and other religions including that of ancient Egypt. And the concept of unification of the US, Mexico and Canada (creating the idea of the Amero for currency) is a real concept that has hardly been covered by news media - even though it could be of massive importance.

All it does is show religion for what it really is.

An attempt to control the population.
