Can anyone tell me what anos means when i look it up it gives me the definition of like anus or something and i know thats not what the context of this is. Doesn't cuantos anos tienes? mean how old are you? im trying to understand this sentence that says John tiene seis anos

John has 6 years. cuantos anos tienes? really means how many years do you have? if you directly translate it. It's just known as how old are you? and really means the same thing.

anos means years. Might get a weird translations without the ~ over the n.

anos does equal anus. with a tilde (~) its year.  

So if you forget to write/pronounce the tilde, you can say "I have 20 anuses" instead of "I have 20 years" aka I'm 20,
