I decided to come up with a contest. Somewhat unique to all the previous ones. Which I am rather proud of.

Dreamweaver's
Support the LOVE!

Contest Goals: The goal of this contest is to create a more supportive atmosphere for LiveWire and it's members of all types. Find a topic in which you feel you can help the most with. Help that person with a very well written response (no "idk" or "i have that same prob. msg me n we'll talk"). Actually write more than one or two sentences that even sounds like you sat down and thought about it.

Here's the catch; create an image that portrays what you felt while you were helping that person. It can be a photoshopped image, photography, MS Paint, a poem, lyrical piece, musical piece, etc. Any median is welcomed, as long as it relates to how you felt while helping that person.

Then all I ask is this when submitting. Submit the art piece first, then a link or quote of the topic in which you submitted your response to, and then a short paragraph explaining the thought process.

"I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death." - Leonardo da Vinci

Object of Contest: To help spread support throughout LW and to help boost the creativity that surrounds each and every member. Everyone is creative in their own way. Show it off!!

Contest Rules:
-Must be original work. No stealing other's works! I am not a big fan of plagiarism and I will not tolerate it on my contest. If I find out that's what you did, I will make sure appropriate action is taken forth.
-If using found objects and photos. please make sure you ok them with first.
-If you want to use something already made before this, just make sure it's really good and works very well together.
-I will not allow members to bash another. It's not cool and doesn't help anyone whatsoever. I will however allow constructive criticism, as long as you don't use words such as "stupid" or "ignorant". We're not in elementary school anymore, so let's use some common sense.
-You may post Anonymously... But if you want credited for it, then please message me what that you did.
-Anyone can submit any number of pieces. But just one creative piece with each topic. Not 2 images for one supportive response.

"The painter makes real to others his innermost feelings about all that he cares for. A secret becomes known to everyone who views the picture through the intensity with which it is felt." - Lucien Freud.

Please enter like so;
Creative piece: (photo, poem, music link, etc)
Topic in which you responded to: (may be a link or quoted- if quoted, please add your response as well)
Why: (explain why you picked this topic and your work)

Points: At this moment, I am waiting for this to be added to the contest page. If you don't think you can contribute by submitting an entry but you want to help... here's an option! Donate some points. I'm thinking about picking the top three depending on how many people submit an entry. I'll be submitting my own personal points into this... 500 to start out to be exact.

Date Ending: How about 3 weeks from now? Contest ending Feb. 12, 2008. I'm going to see how many people pick up on this, and I also want to give people the opportunity to join in on the fun.
Deadline is now Feb. 26

Judging: Your response is the most important part of this contest! Your artwork is basically to help others to visualize how you felt when creating your supportive response. I am not looking for grammatical flaws (though I would rather prefer you not to write in short which is "lyke dis") and I am not looking for most wordy of them all.

Judging will be based on;
Your response: 60%
Your art piece (music, writing, drawing, etc): 30%
Your reasoning: 10%

This could be done in a rather simple way as it does not have to lavish or the greatest thing in the world. It is simply to encourage the support aspect on here. :)

I'm really excited about this and I hope you guys will be, too. If you have any questions, comments, or whatever- feel free to send a message to my inbox.

The only excuse I will accept for anyone not entering this, is if they are simply too lazy to do it.

Update!!
Right now, I'm currently looking for a way to be able to possibly offer donations for prizes. So look out... this may have just that much more interesting.

Another Update!!
Alrighty! As of right now, only 2 people have submitted anything which I would hate to only give two prizes out (there's currently over 1000 points up for grabs and even a donation). So I have decided to move the deadline to my birthday- February 26. Come on guys!! It doesn't have to be the most difficult thing.

Another FREAKING AWESOME Update!!
Thanks to BillyTheGoat, first place will be a $6 donation along with however many points we rack up on the contest page for 1st. Thanks, Bill!

I think this is a cool idea, like you said "everyone is creative in their own way" so it's going to be interesting to see the different types of LiveWire's creativity.

Yeah! I am rather tired of people using the excuse, "Oh, I am not good at Photoshopping or drawing." No longer an excuse to me with this contest! lol

If you're too lazy to simply do it... then don't even bother posting in here.  Everyone has potential in this contest. All I ask of you is to take a step up and do something worthwhile.

Honestly, if you need any help with anything, such as looking for free software to download (legally) or uploading your music onto the internet or whatever, PLEASE ASK! I will try my best to help you out and I'm sure there are plenty of other members who will do the same.

I liked the idea... I was thinkin' about it too, I'm always so busy though, and with finals and new semester stuff 'tis nuts!

Do we have to find a new topic to help in?  Or if there's one we've responded in semi-recently and you remember it well enough, hows that?

As long as it's fairly recent and not like from a year or so ago, lol. I'll accept it.

Okay so when I read this topic I hadn't seen a decent topic in the dating and relationships forum in a while, so I was interested by it right away, basically. I felt both stumped and motivated by her issue just thinking about it and trying to write a reply, so it was a unique experience.

The photo is one I took last year, and I did some tweaks to attempt to give it more of the mood i felt here. I was fascinated by the way the rays of light came through the clouds and i was able to make the light above the clouds look even more intense. That part of the picture represents i guess the inspiration or what pushed me to stick with the issue. Just barely pushing through, but showing promise to burst out at any moment. And then I tried to make the water clearer and more intense, to seem like a more "real" part of the picture. The water is what I felt separated me from the solution or path to it and, indirectly, the member I was supporting. I felt I needed something to cross the water, either a stronger connection with the person involved or a stronger understanding of life and its processes. Finally, I made the land toward the horizon darker and blurrier. That element represents the ultimate bond between the myself and the people involved, the perception to fuel the final attack on the issue, and the promise of harmony for the future. during the time I spent with the topic, I was unsure about the best solution for the situation, or how good any solution would be, so I felt what lay at the end was unclear; however, I felt a sense of substance with the issue and with what could come from a success, so the land on the other side hadn't disappeared from view completely.

I know that makes it sound like I didn't feel much accomplishment from entering the topic and working with it, but I assure you that I did. Anyways you asked for what I felt while I was helping the person, and the above paragraph is exactly that. I was unsatisfied while thinking about it, but once I had finished my reply I was satisfied with the way I connected with the member and the situation.
