While high, i think a lot more in depth...i think of things in different ways and analyze everythign around me. I think it expands my mind, to things i would or could never think of unless i were high. I have had some AMAGING conversations while high, and everyone around me is also smart and think of amazing things. And to the non smokers out there this is not only because we are high it is a fact. Some things we come up with blow my mind away. I use to love it, now i grew out of it i just smoke on occasion at parties or by myself to relax, do laundry, get motivated, and stuff like that but back in the day wen i was 14/15 i once thought about weed and really thought why do i feel so smart and why is everything so much better while high. First off weed kills brain cells does it not? Yes it does, now i truely believe and this is my own opinion, that weed kills brain cells because when high we use all those cells at a higher rate. Why is eveything intensified while high, for exapmle taste, touch, feelings, thoughts, everything, when cold the cold is 10 times worse, when hot the heat is alot worse as well, this is because the brain cells are being used more, were using alot more while we are high changing and altering how we think and feel. I believe that this is the reason that smokers have amazing conversations because the mind expands in ways that are undescribable, now because of all the braincells used they invevitably die....causing killed brain cells....but i think its worth it, because i wouldnt be who i am today with out the things i have leared and thought about after smoking. Does anyone else think this may be true???

In the stoner stereotype, pot smokers and dying brain cells go hand in hand. However, new research suggests the situation may be more uplifting than that. A drug that functions as concentrated marijuana does may spur neurogenesis, the process by which the brain gives birth to new nerve cells. Previous research had suggested that neurogenesis happens only in select locations in the brain, such as the hippocampus, a region involved in learning and memory. Some studies have shown that this process is inhibited by most illicit drugs, such as cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine. However, says Xia Zhang of the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, marijuana's effect on neurogenesis has not been clear. He and his colleagues started investigating this mystery by searching cell surfaces in live, cultured slices of rat hippocampus for receptors that respond to marijuana and a few other similar drugs, called cannabinoids. They reasoned that if marijuana affected neurogenesis in the hippocampus, then cells in that area must have a way to recognize the drug. Sure enough, 95 percent of hippocampus cells responsible for neurogenesis showed evidence of cannabinoid 1 (CB1) receptors, one of two receptors that respond to cannabinoid drugs. Next, Zhang's team incubated samples

Myth: Marijuana Kills Brain Cells. Used over time, marijuana permanently alters brain structure and function, causing memory loss, cognitive impairment, personality deterioration, and reduced productivity. Fact: None of the medical tests currently used to detect brain damage in humans have found harm from marijuana, even from long term high-dose use. An early study reported brain damage in rhesus monkeys after six months exposure to high concentrations of marijuana smoke. In a recent, more carefully conducted study, researchers found no evidence of brain abnormality in monkeys that were forced to inhale the equivalent of four to five marijuana cigarettes every day for a year. The claim that marijuana kills brain cells is based on a speculative report dating back a quarter of a century that has never been supported by any scientific study. Weed doesn't kill braincells, weed puts braincells on standby. EDIT: HOWEVER, heavy smoking kills brain cells. And so does alcohol. So if you don't want to be brain dead, drink less beer and smoke better quality pot. Post edited at 7:02 pm on Nov. 29, 2007 by jamestown
