There could be hundreds of reasons out there of why he doesn't party. From only partying at small parties to family history of alcohol problems to the simple fact he doesn't like to.

I dont see any good in it, what does getting buzzed do? what good comes out of it? Fact is most people drink because it makes them look good to their peers,. drinking aint gonna take away from problems, it will just be right back when your off the buzz. Theres no good in it

First of all, (and the rest of you should take note), it could be because he is trying to show respect for those who are paying for him to be in college. Do you know how many freshmen drop out because they partied too hard? This isn't high school anymore. Not that I'm saying that you SHOULDN'T have fun, but remember, once you get out of college you have to take responsibility for yourself.

Secondly, like other people have mentioned, perhaps he is too busy with school work. Thirdly, he could've had bad experiences with alcohol and could be trying to kick the habit. Lastly, maybe he just plain doesn't like alcohol. Rare as it is, it exists (*points to self* :P).

You could ask him yourself, but do not push him if he says no.

Not all men like to drink. Some think that school is important and not just a time to party and move out of mommy and daddys house. Some actually want an education and care about their future. And others dont. There is a way to balance your "social" and your "schoo" life, some just do it better than others, or reall are just not into drinking, for numerous reasons im sure.
