Fedora is great it's like ubuntu but fedora is the way to go. Do not get X64 flashplayer don't work on X64 bit linux if you can't live without flash. some codecs don't work on x64 bit either. ATI drivers are bad on linux. just try it though see how it is. 
Flash runs perfectly on 64-bit Linux. All that's needed is nspluginwrapper for installation. To the OP: If you've never used Linux before, save yourself some heartache and go with a noob-friendly distribution. I suggest Linux Mint. It's Ubuntu with proprietary codecs and a pretty theme installed.
