Seriously,

There are 17 new eHelps right now, and when I signed on there were 19. I've answered 4 of them, and they just keep coming. I looked back to 2005's eHelps, and people gave them sometimes 5 or 6 answers a piece! Now, we usually get, at the most, 3.

What happened, guys? :\

I answer the ones I get time to answer that I can answer.

But yes... a lot of eHelps are getting no replies or one reply only.

yeah well think about the content a little more
i just checked some from page 380, one of the first replies i saw was this

Advice #1: Don't type in caps.
Advice #2: Use punctuation.
Advice #3: Isolate why your sister is running away (I.E. the cause of her problems) and work for a solution.

Example:

Problem: Your sister is doing drugs because she has acne and everyone makes fun of her.
Solution: Get her anti-acne cream.

Problem: Your sister is doing drugs because her boyfriend dumped her.
Solution: Get her a new boyfriend.

Jesus fuck, it's fairly obvious.

It's true that the ones from 2005 were getting 5-6 replies but if you look closer, you will see that the general quality of the replies were crap compared to the quality that it is today.  So, what would you prefer, low number of ehelp replies with excellent quality or several replies with crap quality?  It takes time to write a well thought-out reply, and most people don't have the energy or time to write more than a couple a day.

I go through stages where i answer most of the ones that come in, then i don't answer any for a week or so.

There are just times where i feel like i can't give my best advice and those are the times where i try to avoid eHelp.

I answered two today, but they already had two replies, so that doesn't help the number go down.

I've been studying hard for exams lately, and I'm trying to finish up one of my online classes. I answer eHelps every now and then, when I have time.

The limit is lower now - we only need two replies for it to be marked unread, then they're off the screen. That's why the older ones had more replies - though they were pretty crappy, to be honest.

I'm just a lazy fucker who replies to an eHelp every fortnight or so. (alright, more often than that, when I come online)... the number of eHelps appear to be increasing as well, and the complexity varies a great amount. I, for one, feel slightly intimidated by seeing such a lot and being bombarded with great slabs of text. A lot of good SLs have become moderators as well, and I assume it takes up a lot of time.

I've been seriously neglecting them since about November. I had a novel to write, then I got modded, then it was Christmas, then I had the most incredible amount of homework and exams and now I'm finally beginning to get on top of it all. I'm going to try and make sure I help out once in ehelp and once in the forums every day, to clear my conscience.

The quality is better these days. I'd rather have 2 or 3 great replies, than 5 or 6 not so great replies. Although, I do agree that people are waiting a really long time for a reply.

I'm not going to justify why I'm not replying so much these days. I'm just not. I'm still helpful when I can be, which is enough imo.
