it's so hard making friends as a transfer student because i don't have an orientation and everyone already formed their group where a new comer is NOT welcomed. when i was a freshman, it was so easy making friends cause everyone is new and you can't help but make friends when living in a dorm. but i'm not living in a dorm this year, i'm at home. i mean, i have acquaintances but not friends. i hate this :(

Have you tried joining a group or organization on-campus? Or even tried intramural sports (if your school does them)? Those are excellent ways to meet new people.

Perhaps you haven't met the right people yet. When does rush end there? If it is still ongoing, go to a few events, and meet some of the fraternities on campus. Unless you're going to a massive party school, they can very often be a great place to make friends, find support, and build a network that will be of value upon graduation. If it is too late to do so this semester, remember that many college allow rushing at the start of the spring semester too. You could then make a point of doing so then.

Obviously, there are other ways to make friends. And if Greek life isn't your thing, so be it. But I would advise giving it a chance. I never really thought of myself as the Greek type, until I met the guys in the frat that I rushed.

Find classes that have a lot of group-oriented work.  There are some classes that nobody will talk to you, and others where you do meet a lot of great people.  And I've already found that making friends is hard in college, but you just can't be afraid to introduce yourself to people.  Trust me, that's so difficult even for me but it's paid off.

well once you leave college and enter the real world or work, your social contacts become limited. so...you need to find another group to meet like minded people. consider strongly joining first a support group for depression or bi-polar.also, recognise your areas of interest and find a group for that...if you like to read...join a book review. church is a great place to meet people and many bigger churches have singles groups. take a evening or weekend class. volunteer at the humane society. live your interests and you will expand. :)
