Recreational drugs? The very definition, is quite worrying.

No kidding.

There are plenty of better ways to have fun, believe me.

I drink a fair bit, but I suppose I am not really and intellectual. Just a poser. I also smoke, again quite a bit. I know the damage it can do but I enjoy it and I'm not even thinking about stopping yet.

Posts like this fill me with intense displeasure. I challenge you to present me with something other than a drug that can generate an experience akin to mushrooms, or a single medical hazard associated with the ingestion of psilocybin.

Good luck.

The entire idea that "there are better ways to have fun" (or the more condescending variants of the same arguments, generally along the lines of "well I don't need drugs to have fun) hinges on the blatant fallacy that people choose to take recreational drugs because they need them to have fun/ don't have other ways of having fun (not to imply that your post pushes as far as this alogical extreme).

Haha, YES!

Alcohol and marijuana are mainly used as "feel good"-type things for me. Others (LSD, salvia) have been an attempt to learn things about myself and the universe.

Ive gotten drunk twice to be sociable, one time I ran down the street attacking passers-by with my arsenal blanket and running off

Contrary to what my pse teacher used to tell  me, Ive never felt compelled to take drugs, once I was curious, but never got round to doing them, partially because I was on the bus, when this girl about my age was on the phone saying how she was retaking her gcses, but it doesnt matter becasue she was fucked out her head the other day off ecstasy and cocaine. Thats just put me off completely.

I've tried alcohol before, mainly because I was peer pressured into it. I've never really liked it, mostly because it burns too much and because my body's reaction to alcohol is to shut down on itself (whether that means blackout, or immobility). I tried marijuana once, and while that experience was better than any alcohol one I've had, I still didn't like it. I was in conflict the whole time, fighting the high. My conclusion from all the experiences is that drugs aren't worth it. I think if one wants to get some sort of high on life, they can get similar effects by reading, listening to music, writing, or doing something creative. So, in conclusion, drugs aren't worth it, and that's my opinion.

Why does one have to be ignorant to eat shrooms?

I was hoping you would attempt to respond to me.

I should mention that I actually mean ignorant to start using recreational drugs. Once one has used them, an addiction develops. Naturally, the addict or user can be fully aware of the consequences of his or her usage and be entirely rational about it.

I assert that one cannot both be informed and rational when starting to use recreational drugs. Why? Because if one is informed, one knows all the potentially bad side effects of recreational drug use; if one is rational, one would want to avoid them as a result of cost-benefit analysis.

Moridin, most of the drugs being talked about aren't particularly addictive or dangerous.

I'd say something like eating food from McDonald's (which is arguably rather addictive) is probably a lot worse (and less enjoyable), but I wouldn't know because I don't use drugs or eat McDonald's food.

Spooner is also recorded by Littlewood as having proposed a toast to "The Boar's Head" (a pub), but this was emphatically not a spoonerism.

Lol. Again. What are the potential bad side effects of responsibly eating psilocybin mushrooms?

Stop equivocating. Drugs are not all the same thing. Drug [X] is not [drugs]. Yes, many drugs have negative side effects. That doesn't mean that a cost-benefit analysis would stop one from using them. I vaporized some pot today. I know exactly what that does to my hippocampus, and I'm willing to accept an minor acceleration in what would normally happen for the overall pleasure I get out of vaping with friends. I understand the potential risks associated with LSD, and the probability of encountering them at the dosages I take it in. This doesn't come close to outweighing what I get from them.

As long as the real (as oppose to imagined) cost-benefit analysis is positive, then w/e.

I've used alcohol. Once.

I never plan to use any other type of recreational drugs, or alcohol again, for that matter.  Alcoholism runs in my family and I just don't control myself when I'm drinking.
Drug addiction also runs in my family.  I'd like to think that I'll be able to never use drugs, but being in highschool, and about to go into college, I realize that it's going to be difficult.

Some users of psilocybin experience a pronounced feeling of nausea. However, one can also get nauseous from eating too much sugar, so that ain't much of an arguement really.

i guess the key word here is doing drugs "responisbly"... too much of anything is bad. Hallucinogens get me in touch with my subconscious and enhances creativity, but exaggerated use could lead to memory loss and probably insomnia. And the line b/w responsible use and drug abuse is sometimes a little... fuzzy.

MDMA, shrooms, speed, coke, marijuana, hash, cigarettes, alcohol. I'm sure I'll try others. I don't consider my drug use as opposed in any way to my intellectual endeavors and I don't regret trying anything. All things in moderation, eh?
