My high school play is doing Hamlet this year. Now, we have a really prestigious theatre program, and it's ranked pretty high in the country. last year, about 350 kids auditioned for Heaven Can Wait, but only about 25-30 were selected to be in it. It's pretty hard to get into. Now usually, they always ask us to do something different. Two years ago, for The Laramie Project (which turned out to be AMAZING and made several people cry), they wanted us to simply tell a story. Any story. They wanted to see what people would come up with. Last year, they just wanted a monologue for Heaven Can Wait.
but this is Shakespeare now. What do you think we'd be asked to do? Give a regular monologue? Shakesperian monologue? If it's the latter, then I'm screwed because I know ziltch about Shakespeare...I have no idea how I would get into this play, and if by some miracle I do, I have no idea how I'm going to master a Shakespeare character.
How can I prepare? What should I expect they'll ask us to do?
