In theory, the mods will never tell who the psoter is. But I know for a fact, that this si not always the case.

The last instance I was aware of, the mod was demoted.

Wrong. I know of one who still is mod.

As do I.  Hopefully, that will be irrelevant from this point forward.

So because you don't like what you think my stand on the policy is, you refuse to explain certain parts of it to me? I'm not sure I understand that attitude..

I'm not refusing to explain anything to you...

No?

"... can you list the criteria for when a mod will likely check the identity of of an anonymous poster?"

"No. Not relevant."

Why is it not relevant to understand this? Or is there no criteria?

There are no formal criteria. It's whenever a mod feels that his/her moderation would benefit from seeing who anon is.

My only thing is that I'm afraid this will be like the whole "doesn't belong in eHelp" bit. I mean, what looks like spam or silliness may be serious. I can't think of an example (I never can think of a good one when I need to, but I will post it when I think of one), but I can think of what could lead to what looks like a silly post. Say my parents are reading all of my posts from another account. I realize they are doing this, and have a question that, for whatever reason, would get me in a shitload of trouble, even if it doesn't sound like it should be anonymous.

Okay, I will try an example anyway (but it will fail at life, so don't expect much). I ask how to make popcorn (anonymously), but I'm allergic to it (not really, but pretend). Therefore I'd be trying to either harm myself OR make it for someone else. Then say I'm grounded. The popcorn is for my secret girlfriend, who I'm not allowed to be dating. My parents seeing that post could cause them to figure out that I'm not doing the whole grounded thing. This could cause them to find out about the girlfriend. This could lead to, pfft, I dunno, whatever psycho punishment they have for me. If my parents are post-stalking me, I'd guess they'd be the type of parents to go psycho on me.

But we'll be trashing topics for infractions...

There's no risk of information being leaked - the user doesn't have to repost. And if we're wrong and there's a good reason (and we'll always err on the side of caution), we'll put it back up :)

Lol, the same ones who don't feel they should be held to a bit higher standard than regular members? Yeah, that gives me a lot of confidence in this feature.

Btw, I'm not really a proponent of this feature at all. And I think it's both used and abused way too much. However, if  it's here to stay, I believe that it should be strictly monitored. But giving such discretionary powers without some kind of accountability may be a little too tempting for some.

But if you remove it when it first hits the fresh topics, the person who needs help won't get any help at all. If it was silly enough to be removed by error, it wouldn't be able to go into eHelp then. A repost of it would be considered spam.

So basically, the person is screwed.

There's nothing stopping a person reposting a topic in eHelp - the kinds of help are very different and SLs should not trash eHelps for being similar to existing topics.

Then there's the fact that they can always make a new anonymous topic if the showing-up-in-fresh topics thing is particularly important.

The person is in no way screwed...
