Sometimes I think I really should think more before posting on the main boards, because I really think I get out of line sometimes, and I would assume that people expect SL's to exhibit a stronger sense of maturity and the ability to calmly state a point of view without demeaning another.

It actually makes me feel really bad looking back on some of the moments when I've lost my cool and left my inhibitions at the door when responding to a post or creating a controversial topic. I know that just because we're SL's, it doesn't mean we have to walk around with a stick up our...well, you know, but I do think I should start addressing some issues a little differently while voluntarily sporting the SL tag.

What about the rest of you? Am I the only one who thinks this some times?

As long as you follow the guidlines, you'll be just fine. If you read something that you know will fire you up and make you want to post something rather rude back to the OP or something, just make yourself go to something else on the site or just leave the computer temporarily. Or if you think a topic will make you rant or post something you might regret it, avoid it and move on. It does become a bad habit to respond to just about every topic you read but really you dont have to respond to them all. trust me, I used to feel like I had to reply to just about every topic I read back when I first joined. In fact i got into a lot of heated debates in the Religion forum and it just angered me soooo much! Then I decided to just avoid it as much as possible. lol, To this day, I rarely post in there and if I do, it's usually on Catholicism and if someone is asking about something within it. *shrugs*

But anyway, it's ok to feel this way. You just have to figure out a way to deal with it and still be able to be supportive on the forums.

Support Leader is like the intellectual badge. Sure you have it, but should it make you act differently, are you in anyway superior to any other member?
No, because any member can get those things quite easily, this is a website. Why try and act mature and whatnot if that is not you?
If you had to act to get your badge, do you deserve it?

Basically, I just think be yourself. No need to let a tag define who you are.
