Hello. Yes, this is a fork from the other thread. I believe the author of the other thread fundamentally has a good idea: Harness students to produce software for an environment that they can relate to.
One of the hardest things for Teenage programmers to gain is solid experience in designing, developing and deploying a complete application.
Some of us skip right over design. I know I do; sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
Others will design an application, get five hours in and realize that we didn't at all understand the scope of the project.
There's even a group of people who deploy crap software. I mean, there's some really bad stuff out there. Just look at portfolios of bad web designers!
Anyways, I'm rambling. The actual point of this thread is to see if anyone is interested in working on a collective project. More specifically, what? I think we should be shooting for something at the administrative level.
Please, do make any suggestions you've got. Nothing stupid, though.
