Seanee: The guest feature on the eHelp system is great.  I love the idea of "drive-by" help.  What other website offers something like that?  The guests who submit their eHelps deserve to rate replies as well, just as any other user.  There is no difference between someone who uses this website, or someone who doesn't.  Everyone should be given the SAME advice, regardless of rather or not they are a guest, or a regular user - why shouldn't everyone have the same right to tell us how we did?

Dreamweaver: When users are sent the PM/email notifying them of a response, they have, as you know, the four options we all know of to pick from.  They range from great, to unhelpful, basically.  The words we see when we get rated (Your reply has been very helpful, it is much appreciated.) aren't the only words the user sees.  They are given very OBVIOUS words to designate what is great rating, and what is a bad rating.

In their email, it's something like this:

"(Bad) Thanks for trying to help with my problem." - As you can see, the user knows what rating they are giving.  If you are given the above rating (whatever it says, I can't remember), you know the user didn't like your advice.  Basically, what I'm getting at is that it isn't really any different than the other system.  Before, bad ratings very very rarely came with feedback, and now it's no different.  I hope all that made sense.

Also, when a support leader is given a bad rating, it doesn't get added to their overall rating.  :-)

Pro- I do understand that as I have done a coupld eHelps myself and so forth. I was just saying it really doesn't help the SL who wrote the response to the eHelp. Often times it gets confusing unless someone who has rated the SL also explains in their response that it really didn't help them.

Does that make any sense? I'm afraid it doesnt...

No, no.  It made sense.

I said a long time ago that if a negative rating is given, it should be REQUIRED to add feedback.  Sure, we'd get a lot of nonsense, "because" or "whatever" replies, but I'd be willing to bet we'd get more feedback for negative ratings than now.

Not getting feedback on a negative rating doesn't help anyone.

Okay remuslupin, I don't get it. What's your point?

There is no way to force guests to rate a reply, unless LW spams their inbox, which would discourage them from coming back.

Excuse me if I'm off base here. But this seems increadibly selfish to say "I want them to be more encouraged to rate so my profile looks better."
That was the message I got by this, seriously wtf?
The eHelp isn't about the recording of how 'good' a SL you are, get the fuck over it. There is no rank or authority to an SL based on their supportiveness bar, everyone tries their best I'm sure.

They do rate, and are encouraged to as much as any member, except without the point incentive.

Seanee - I don't see why whether they being a part of the site or not makes any difference at all as to whether help actually helped them or not.

Dream - Totally agree, down with this new system of totally positive replies, it's misleading, but we all already know that 1 and 2 means you did crappy (by the requestees idea) anyways, why does the wording so much.

Prof - I like your idea, but forcing someone to give feedback on it is like forcing someone that doesn't necessarily want to admit some things. I see it as yielding very little actual info about how to rework your eHelps in the future.

I'm with Rasta...it's not about the ratings. They're nice, but not the point.
