what would be a good electric guitar for a beginner for rock/ punk rock. i was thinking the epiphone sg. p.s. i dont want that two tone guitar that every beginner has it justs annoys me.

If I were you, I'd get a fairly cheap one, because I have a bunch of friends who wanted to learn to play guitar more than anything, were completely convinced that they would do it, spent $400 on a guitar, and got bored with it after a few weeks... And they still won't sell it to me... go figure...

Your friend got cheated. There is no way in hell that a new, authentic Fender strat would cost anything less than $400. Not even the Japanese make guitars.

It's not an authentic Fender strat, that's the cheat. I'm sure the guitar works just fine, but that's not the point. A Fender is a Fender for a reason - quality.

And the prices on Fender.com are in US dollars.

Oh, and the cheapest new Fender Strat is the Standard Stratocaster at US$571.14.
