I like using cold-fusion.  It's the best I've used so far.

I've never personally used pascal but C++ is a good program.  It really up to you but my suggestions would be either Cold-Fusion or C++.

Pascal, in my opinion, is the easiest language to learn. It was created to teach basic programming concepts. For beginners, C is also quite easy and for object-oriented programming Java is quite good but i think C# is way better.

As to which is the BEST programming language, that actually depends on where you are going to use it.

Visual Basic is a good one to start with. But like Blue Baby said, it depends on what you will use it on.

Most Canadian universities start you off with Java because of it's easy approach to Object Orientated programming.  Most high schools, in my experience, start you off with Visual Basic.  Really though, unless you're comparing something like object orientated programming to procedural programming, the difference is really only in the syntax.

Not really. Programming languages differ a lot. For example, the data types they support, their readability, writability, orthogonality, whether or not they support pointers, whether it is compliled or interpreted, etc.

If you happy with windows as your platform then learn C#. Its a very nice language and very much in demand.

This is true. It is a pretty hotly debated topic if it's best to learn from the ground up, starting with something say, eg, that doesn't have a garbage collector or something that does.  Most courses will start you off learning to write basic data structures and algorithms, working with I/O, etc, and then you will move into pointers and garbage collection in a later course.

C++ =P (for windows users).

Though, surprisingly, Linux programmers are very common, almost more common than Windows programmers.
