Well, personally, I think you should possibly pick up a book on psychology. You don't chose to be depressed, and most of the time it isn't because of what someone thinks about you. Also, most of the time you can't even help caring about what others think when you have certain mental disorders.

actually, it can. if someone is telling you everyday that you are pathetic, useless, worthless, no one cares about you, you're fat, etc, you WILL come to believe it, and you'd have to have an iron will to not be affected by it in some way.
