Throughout grade school, we're often presented with a clear picture regarding discrimination: white man discrminating against black man.  White man discriminating against the minority.  White man using his power to discriminate everybody else.

This paints a vivid image in our heads that white people are the racists and black people and other minorities are the victims.  As a result, this makes us predisposed to claim racism whenever a white person makes a statement that could be seen as derogatory against a minority.

But what you find schools not teaching you so much about is reverse discrimination - the kind of racism that emerges among blacks and minorities as a reaction to discrimination.  Often times, you'll get these people justifying this racism simply because it's a reaction, yet one has to wonder - is racism, whether it's a reaction or not, truly justified at all?  Especially on those whites who never took part in any kind of discrimination against minorities?

As a result of not learning about this view so much, people are often slow to perceive racist and derogatory statements made by minorities.  We don't often think of the white person as the victim in any racial issue.  Personally, I believe this truly needs to stop and needs to be highlighted far more than it is.  Reverse discrimination is as potent, dangerous, and immoral of a force as any kind of discrimination whites have ever brought upon minorities.

Why give an unfair advantage to people claiming to want equal treatment as a reaction to intolerance in previous generations?

Reverse discrimination is rare, and frankly I don't believe it's a serious issue.

Great post.

All true.
I have witnessed  colored people  speak of whites very badly...behind their backs.

It is disgusting behavior, that they(believe it or not) learn from school.

No, I generally do percieve things like being egged twice for being a middle class white girl and pushed down the stairs for the same thing as being racially abusive.

But y'know, maybe that's just me.

I've seen it happen far more than I've seen racist behaviour from white people.

I wouldn't call it reverse discrimination, I'd say it would just be considered plain discrimination. Unfortunately, there is discrimination between people of all races/ethnicities. There are even many cases of discrimination between people of the same race/ethnicity, some of which are because of their skin color, light vs. dark. But I agree with you discrimination on any level between any race/ethnicity should be stopped.

it's "rare" because it's not as well publicized.

whites are forced to walk on egg shells, many of us can't even approach the race topic irl without fear of being labeled racist, and lets face it, racism against whites is pretty much accepted.

And the Michigan Admissions Exam was a figment of America's imagination when they were caught blatantly giving minorities racial curves to tests for admissions?  Or jobs requiring a certain number of minority slots to fill in order to be compliant with growing legal pressures from NAACP or ACLU?  Or more federal aid statistically given to people of minority status readily over a lessening White majority?

Are these insignificant, as well?

Exactly. When you think reverse discrimination, you think black and white. But the world isn't black and white.

You'd be quite surprise at some of the hate many blacks and other minorities hold against whites.  If you ever talk to many black people and you happen to be white, chances are you will run into one who feels that you owe something to them.  You'll often run into many whites who think the same sort of things.  It's not too uncommon to see groups of minorities telling the white kid to GTFO simply because he or she is white (ie. the white kid sitting at the black table during lunch in the school cafeteria).

If anything, reverse racism is just as dangerous as any kind of racism whites may hold, especially considering that it's being legislated via affirmative action and other such laws.

In fact, I find a lot of the prejudice whites have against blacks and other minorities is largely due to this fact.  In a sense, revese reverse discrimination.  This needs to stop and people need to learn that minorities can be just as racist as anybody else if we ever hope to make any kind of racial progress in our society.

LOL, oh please. That's bullshit and you know it. When do us white people ever walk on egg shells.
