Maybe thats it now days, but before we knew how things worked, when a sickness that man couldn't cure, or a earthquake happened maybe people just wanted something to explain why. God was (still is i guess) like the perfect comfort food for people it doesn't matter if he/she/it really exists. The people that believe make god real.

But my point is.. what are people doing to there minds by worshipping such a 'God'?
If our minds are linked to our souls, and it's our soul that gets released after death, then there souls will never be in peace since they will be worshipping for eternity. That in my opinion is hell.

For non religious people, Peace is when you die, not having to worship, but RIP instead.

I suppose religious people must want a religion since they maybe like the idea of never resting in peace, therefore, they want to be in some 'fantastic magical land' called heaven. Nothing is ever as amazing as it may seem.

Havent religious people ever heard the term 'The grass is never greener on the other side?'. What you READ is different to what MAY be lurking! ..REMEMBER THAT! By supporting God you may be bisguided into believing it's good for you since you#re greedy when in actual fact its evil trying to manipulate you using greed for eternal life.

Its like the holy grail.. who wants eternal life? By drinking from the holy grail, by becoming religious.. your actually just proving how greedy you are.

If GOD was real.. he would want you to enjoy one life, and be it merely one life, then not have an eternity of after life.

History have proven that christians are greedy. Example: the crusades for the holy land. So it does not surprise me that they want an ETERNITY of an afterlife

Yeah but i know people who are religious that aren't greedy. They believe because they were taught to. I mean Catholics aren't all about the after life, they are more about this life; doing what is right. True some regions like Mormonism focus on reaching that level of heaven where life continues beyond death, but not all religious people just want the after life.

I do see what you are saying but if there was no afterlife promised i doubt anyone would be catholic or even christian for that matter

1: Christianity =/=Religion
2: Biblegod=/=God
3: Who're you to say what God would want for us?

edit: 4: How do you come to the conclusion that God is Satan in disguise and that only evil people hear voices?

Terrible theology.  Asinine viewpoint.  And just an all-around pretentious child incapable of thought apart from your limited viewpoint of religious significance.

I'm Christian and I am not the least bit weak-minded. (to whoever wrote that statement) As a matter of fact, I'm catholic (gasp!) and guess what! I never go to church, I usualy don't read the bible, and I don't try to "convert" people to my religion. Religion is a personal thing, and people chose to "worship" in many different ways because that's what they think is right for them. Personally, I just try to live my life being as good a person as I can be, and I definately am not good all the time. As for the God and Satan are the same thing..ehhh..don't think so. I think they are both "enitities" amongst themselves, ones good ones evil, and neither can exist without each other. Normally, I don't ever discuss religion but I just kinda think it's sad that most people believe that everybody who believes in god must believe in the exact same way, like everybody came from the same mold or something, which really isn't the case.
Religion is something that if you're going to "dive" into it you need to be very open-minded and don't be so nieve as to believe everything you hear. Things are frequently taken out of context and Religion is one of those things.

wait... I'm confused.  By saying that without reigion your soul can rest in peace and with it you will suffer a hell AFTER life, aren't you beleiving in an afterlife and therefore in religion which you aim to disprove?

A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death.

^ This is my stance on general religion in a very large, all-consuming nutshell.

\/ This is a little closer to what I believe.

The individual feels the futility of human desires and aims and the sublimity and marvelous order which reveal themselves both in nature and in the world of thought. Individual existence impresses him as a sort of prison and he wants to experience the universe as a single significant whole. The beginnings of cosmic religious feeling already appear at an early stage of development, e.g., in many of the Psalms of David and in some of the Prophets. Buddhism, as we have learned especially from the wonderful writings of Schopenhauer, contains a much stronger element of this.

Do you believe what the Catholic Church teaches and practice the religion faithfully?
