I believe you're not allowed to block them, and that is why it's hard to find the coding.

I've only ever seen the code to high the search bar. :/

Pretty much. Just suck it up or if you're using Firefox, you can use the addon that blocks advertisements for you. The addon is called Adblock Plus.
