I just finished The Kite-Runner the other day, and it was such an amazing book. I picked it up at this random yard sale, because my social studies teacher had said it was excellent, and I'd heard it had gotten amazing reviews. But anyways, it was really haunting. I have to admit, I was kind of ashamed that I didn't know what a Pashtun and a Hazara were, and the whole ethnic differences of Afghanistan play a large part in the entire book.

It's a great book for anyone who wishes to know more about the state of the Middle East, because even though it's fiction, the author has an extensive knowledge of the politics, culture, and people of Afghanistan.

Anyone else read it?

I read it a few weeks ago. I agree it was a good book, but I hate the main character... who also happened to have written the book, lol.

The story was not real.

I read it about a year ago and I loved it. I want to read A Thousand Splendid Suns but i haven't gotten around to it yet.
