The most powerful verse Ive found to help people understand the love of Christ is Romans 8:35 "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?" When people think about the love of Christ, we are so quick to have such an American view of what Jesus' love should be. Have you heard the argument, 'if Jesus loves us, then why did/does he let (insert bad thing) happen?' Well, thats the thing, God does not guarantee bad things will not happen to us, in fact it's quite the opposite. This verse says when, not 'if' but when bad things happen to you, God will continue to love you. Now don't think "So what? What good does it do me if i have no house but Jesus loves me?" It does you all the good you can get! Think about it this way, your father loves you and will do anything he can to support you. Nothing you do will make your father love you any less. Now let's say you are living on your own and your house burns down. Here's the parallel: if you trust your father and ask him to help you in your time of need, he will deliver. You will have a place to stay and he will help you get back on your feet. The idea with God is the same. When something bad happens to you (or in your case, you've done something bad) if you can trust God completely and ask for his help, he will deliver. From the mouth of Jesus himself in Matthew 7:7-8: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." If you can trust God enough to come to him with no doubt in your heart and ask for his guidance, he promises he will deliver, but like i said, this will require complete surrender to Him. It's worth it. Trust in God and you WILL be taken care of, He promises.

that's a horrible philosophy on life... YOU have the power to do anything, not some being whom you force yourself, despite all logical and realistic facts you've been taught your entire life, to believe and devote yourself to.
I do believe i have the power to do anything, God said so. Really, God promised us freewill. I have just as much power to do anything as you do. The difference between you and I is I have trusted God as my guide. Understand this, God will guide you to do things, but he will never force you too. It's like if you ask your folks if you can do something and they say, "i'd rather you not". Now you have the FREEWILL to decide if or if you won't do it. Same here, God can guide me to do something, but if i don't feel comfortable yet, I won't do it. Look, i'm not 'forcing' myself to believe and Christianity has CERTAINLY not been drilled into my head since i was little. The greatness of God is you have the freewill to believe and trust him when you are good and ready. I'm just saying, he promises to take care of you if you trust him.
