Hello

Last year i learnt HTML so i could easily edit my web template. I noticed back then that 90% of it was CSS, HTML did very little apart from the text and images. A year has passed and i this time around i've learnt CSS. It's got a whole lot more intresting! I've been keen on web design for a while now and i'm more passionate about my work than ever. That's why i put my full effort into each and everyone of my designs. I'm not a profesional we designer, no i'm a student in the first year of college who's still learning.

Anyways, enough about me. I've just finished creating a new design. I was asked to create a website, a guy told me which colours, fonts, and layout he liked, i then went away and created it. This Announamous person contacted me by email and asked for the site, He said he would pay for my work. However he's not he is being an ass with me now, aparently he's allready paid me. I suppose he was messing me around from the begining.

Oh well, i'd like feedback on this design anyway. I've changed it so it's suitable for me. It's not got any javascript. it's just simple HTML and CSS.  Although it's not been 100% valid, i'm about to clean up the coding now.

I've never been paid to create a web design, so i'm curious to how much i should charge, and how a design like this would be worth. (If anything lolz)

Here is the design preview.

That's a pretty good site just using basic HTML and CSS. Did you use any starter templates or anything, or did you start clean on an empty word document?

I would charge hourly, about $15-$20/hour.  That seems fair for web design.  The hardware technicians make around $40/hr.

The hard part is proving how many hours went into it.

...its decent...how ever i think that you might what to make the links work first...did you import them correctly?  In order to do that you need to either use your program or put a link within the codes that you are using.

I charge minimum $85 an hour for my web development services. Includes design and coding. The most I ever made was up to $145 an hour for about 120 hours of work. My current project is also 120 hours of work slated at $150 an hour. This will soon take the throne of my biggest project once completed.

That is way too low, but I guess considering he is entry-level it could be reasonable.

Is this strictly HTML/CSS, or does that include other languages and formats like PHP and flash coding?

The text is a bit too large and the footer font is .. really, really ugly.

Another thing; the table your whole template is in (the grey box) should have an outline behind it to make sure it doesn't look quite so 2D.

Personally i dont like it..

Its a good site and the coddings pretty neat but its not to my personall taste...

Couple of things
1) Dont use dreamweaver! Its already added crap to the code (the body tag image loaders and the head javascript)
2) It looks quite templatley.. Not sure how but it just does slightly..
3) I think the contrasts between colors, fonts and backgrouns are slightly odd...

Like i said, its not to my personall taste but its pretty nice!

I prefer using dreamweaver as it gives you the code and design views all at once.  He can simply remove those codes you pointed out in the Code view, can't he?

Also, the contrast between the font and background is odd, but a dark background with light font is proven to be less stressful on your eyes.  I really wish LW had a custom theme like this.
