Mom keeps telling me things and I have to put in a huge amount of effort to actually retain and even take in what she says. I have a short attention span on things I find slightly boring. I avoid doing things that take a lot of mental effort (i.e, taking the intellectual test on LW) I'm really easily distracted I procrastinate. I'm the worlds worst procrastinator. I forget daily things, such as my daily chores I'm not so sure about the hyperactivity thing, but then I'm never still, I always fidget in some way or other, I run everywhere, I climb trees, climb walls etc, especially when stressed. I will also tend to blurt things out, and not be patient enough to wait for someone to finish talking before asking a question or something. Now I tried telling my Mom that I think I may have this, but she doesn't even know what it is and just says no you are just lazy minded. Perhaps that is true too. I really don't know. I did run into a gate once, when I was 12, and I still have a lump on my forehead. What do you all think? I know ADHD is quite common, so you might have personal experience.

i have it.. i just get really hyper and don't focus when i should like in school. my teacher told my mom to go to a doctor when one day she caught me drawing pictures of lion king characters or something. there were other instances but that drew the line i guess... literally

Ok buddy, where do I begin. First of all there is no medical/laboratory evidence which proves that ADHD might be an organic disease, it's all pencil and paper. No other disorder is that way. I could go on but, IMO, ADHD is just a convenient excuse for the shortcomings of teachers and/or parents. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it couldn't exist, I'm just saying it's over prescribed and a way for the drug companies to print money.
An ORGANIC DISEASE? It's not organic, it's not a disease. It's caused by unregulated production of dopamine. And about the "Shortcomings of parents and teachers" part, I was diagnosed when I was 7, I had'nt been in school long enough to really be affected by teachers, and also my parents have the best parenting skills of anyone I've ever met, I was NEVER just let loose to do what I want, I was disciplined, more so than most children, so don't go blaming it on my parents.
