They can, because it's their way to protect you. Regardless of you feelings, they've been through it, they've seen and heard stories of what's happened to others, and for parents, that's scary. I don't know what the situation is where you are, but some families also don't agree with dating until a certain age. Whatever their reasons... it's genearlly because they think that it's better for you. Maybe their worried about you making a commitment you weren't ready to make, maybe they're worried that you're getting taken advantage of, maybe they worry that you're priorities are in the wrong spot, or maybe they just feel that you're too young to be feeling so strongly about something to the point that you do go against what they say and fight it. Whatever the reason, it's not because they want to hurt you.

No. His parents KNOW we love each other. They just don't like ME. For no reason whatsoever.

I don't know if it's that they don't like, or they don't like how their son is acting because of his love for you. Love comes in different forms, and I have no right to determine who is in love and who isn't, nor will I try. As your parents, they have this right, and as a parent, they also have the innate desire to protect their child. If they see that the child could be much MORE hurt if it continues, or hurt in his future, they'll probably put a stop when they think the hurt will be less.
