Ok so google can pay u for advertising on your site..anyone done this before...its google so it cant really be a scam right?

Yeah you can do that, but you don't get very much from it.
I knew a guy that advertised for google on his site, but he just used the money to cover his membership subscription fees on another website.

I did that with Yahoo. The way that Yahoo's worked was that you only got money for however many clicks you got.
